Congrats to Matt, this honor is well-deserved! I had the privilege of being a teammate of Matt's in both HS and college, and there is not a finer competitor, or a finer person, around.

SUU Alumn

Matt is really a great guy. He was more than just an athlete at SUU. Well deserved.

sob

he was a great player who's career was largely overlooked by the media in this state. glad to see suu do this.

Dr. Doom

As someone who grew up with Matt, played through little league and high school, this is a great thing for him and his family. Congrats to Matt. A great career that was largely an afterthought.

Can't help but remember when Weber State tried to cancel their contract for a game with SUU, preferring to wait until Cannon graduated before playing them again.

I watched him from his freshman year until his Junior year. He was both a great player and a great example to youngsters.

Congratulations

Thanks to SUU for showing this level of respect for a great player who thrilled the entire state with his skill, competitiveness, and performance.

They don't make many like this guy.

Congratulations to Matt Cannon. You earned it.

SUU alumn too

What is Matt up to these days? I thought he was a pre-law student at SUU. I could see this guy making a run for political office someday.

Go to SUU's football site and it has a more detailed review of what he is doing now. He graduated from BYU law and practices in SLC.

Congratulations to Matt on an amazing career at SUU and beyond. What a tremendous example to young people of what one can accomplish both as an individual and as a student-athlete. Matt was valedictorian at SUU and then earned an NCAA scholarship to BYU Law School. All of us at SUU are enormously proud of what Matt represents as the kind of student-athlete we should all emulate.

Matt's senior year I attended more home games than I did any year I was a student at SUU (SUSC). He was great to watch. It's great of the school to honor him.

Me, Myself and I

I was privileged to play on the same team as Matt in 97 and 2000. What a great honor for a great person. On and off the field Matt inspired all who knew him to be better people, football players and citizens. Thanks for the example and memories Matt and congratulations.

The Nite-Train

What an honor indeed. One of the best players I ever had the chance to play with.

Great honor for Marvelous Matt. I went to school with his little brother and attended every H.S. game when Matt was a Sr. Great leader for Highland and at SUU. I even think he played for the Rhine Thunder in NFL Europe? Great times especially the Davis/Highland game in '93 when the famed #9 white jersey was so muddy you couldn't even see the numeral on the back but he was all over the field that night running the option to perfection. Thanks Matt for making an 8th grader at the time feel big time b/c he knew the star QB @ the High School team. You and Langston were quite the combination that year! A very deserved honor for a great guy!
