Legislators aim to outlaw powerful painkiller Soma

I get"spam" mail everyday that advertise soma along with Viagra, etc. It is a whole lot cheaper than $80.00 a tab too. I can even get an online physician to OK the Rx. Script drugs are the most frightening substance I know of. On one hand they are a therapeutic cure and on the other an addictive life ruiner, if not a life TAKER.

It is about time! Hopefully this will take effect and something can be done now. Prescription drug ABUSE is a real problem. It is scary that people take them with other drugs and alcohol. Far too many lives have been lost because of this disease.

Is Soma abused and addictive--yes. But should it be taken away--no. Ask someone with bad back spasms or muscle/skeleton pain what life would be without it. Who to blame, Doctors that keep patients on it for long periods of time. The package inserts (FDA approvoed use) is for short 2-3 week treatment. Do we need to make it harder to get, no. Do we need to have judges with backbone enough to give real sentences to abusers caught selling it illegally--yes. When the justices get brave enough to hand out real sentences instead of slaps on the hand, then the problem will be addressed.
