How can leaving a bale of hay on the road for an hour while it is getting dark be "doing the best they can?"
I have to agree with Ken. Was there a reason they couldn't move it? If they couldn't move it, had they tried to summon help or notify authorities of potentially lethal danger?
The crew had plenty of time to move the hay; if they would have done more these people would have never met under these circumstances. I have driven this road and I hate it at night, because you cannot see beyond your headlights. I hope everyone involved is okay.
I must say the hay unloader was inexperienced and likely half drunk, he should have been cited for this.
A bale of hay was in the road for quite a while? How much education would it take to have one of the workers simply walk over and move the bale? I'm confused, a bale isn't that heavy. And? A UHP trooper (albeit off duty) was aware of a traffic hazard and did NOTHING to help prevent???? There are too many unanswered questions.
they were 1/2 ton bales -- that is 1000 pounds....but I agree they should have used the forklift to move it before there was a problem.
Wow and hour is a long time. They should have found someone to move it.We (3 adults ,2 children, one pregnant adult)were almost killed because someone had lost their couch and we had to swerve to keep from runnning into it.About half a mile down the road we saw the truck that lost it and the people were just standing watching vehicles swerving all over the place and almost smashing into the concrete barriers,Some people are so stupid and careless.these individuals should have been further away from the road.People may die because of them .
