The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has already completed a testing program using Barricade Fire Gel for improving mine fire safety. Barricade was selected because it does not contain the toxic chemicals Nonylphenol Ethoxylates (NPEs) or petroleum distillates that are found in the fire gel brand mentioned in this article.
