I agree with all except Air Force. I think they win.
I wish the best to all of the Mountain West Conference teams. Show those other teams what the MWC can do. Show the other conferences that we deserve to be at the big dance in January.
AFA will win. UNLV will not.
I think Air Force will win but UNLV will lose. I also think the Utes will lose at San Jose state by a field goal. But if I were a betting man I would still pick Utah although my gut says they finally lose one. BYU will win larger than that. I think BYU's defense has finally turned a corner i think it will be 38-10
BYU gets ambushed in the Dome..same place where the Utes wooped on Bama!
Utah offense will be the most potent offense in the MWC this year.."mark my word" by game 3, they will have T.Cain and the rest of the boyz movin that "well oiled machine"...and then next year?..wooo!..look out college football..the Utes are gona be NASTY!
I enjoy your columns Dick and look forward to seeing your picks and logic. Last week however you went 6-2 not 7-1. You picked BYU and Colorado State to lose and we all know the outcomes of those games. I think you might be wrong about Air Force this week.
Dick your record was 6-2 last week not 7-1. You picked both BYU and Colorado St. to lose - and they both beat up on their Big 12 foes. I think the AFA does the same with Minnesota this week.
Re: Guttural Feeling
Keep riding that wave of euphoria from 2008 and ignoring reality. Maybe you can be up by 9 at halftime over SJS just like you were over the juggernaut Aggies (at home no less).
In the midst of your delirium, you can also continue to use nonsensical arguments to diminish BYU's win in Arlington.
Go watch your copy of the Sugar Bowl for the 60th time, it will help perpetuate the delirium.
By November you'll be watching the Cougars make it three out of the last four over the "Nasty" Utes.
Utah didn't have the most potent offense in the MWC last year (BYU=16th, TCU=24th, Utah=35th) why would they be best this year. You can't rack up too many yards on 3-yard routes when the defense you're facing, unlike USU, ISN'T Juco quality.
Utah's O will be less potent than BYU's, TCU's, CSU's, UNLV's and AFA's.
Who is Mark Asiata?
Dick you were 6-2 last week. You picked BYU and CSU to lose and they both won.
The WMC is not half as special as the dillusional cougs and utes try to make it out to be. Looking forward to seeing them crumble as the season progresses.
They are already printing the tickets for Pasadena - Horns and Gators will be a sweet game.
Is that how you respect the best running back in the MWC, by calling him by not knowing his name? It's MATT Asiata!
yep Nasty - but is that really a good thing?
that had BYU losing by 30 last week?
Good luck to BYU & all Mtn. West teams this weekend. Cougar fans in Missouri were impressed with last week's win & we'll be cheering hard as well that we continue to improve and win this week against Tulane.
It's nice to have comic relief from the Utah fans. Although I didn't graduate from BYU (I went to the U.) it makes one proud to be a Cougar fan.
Don't call Asiata the best RB in the conference yet, Unga is going to be better than ever this year. Air Force also has a potent running game. Wait until the end of the season to say that.
As a former recruit (by both teams in the late 90's). I find it amusing that all of us fans like to pretend we're vastly beeter than the others. I am a Utes fan, but I realize that our programs will be forever linked!! This morning on Gameday Kirk finally went against his stance on "lesser Conferences". His reasoning, BYU beat OU, but if it wasn't for Utah, he doesn't think they would have moved that far.
As for my fellow Utah optimists. We will get better week by week, if we beat Oregon, we have a chance at BCS, if we lose we don't....Period!!
Hoping for good games from UWyo and AF...
