How much government waste will commission find?

The comment about education is particularly interesting. (1)Utah's public education system is funded at less than 2/3 the average education cost. (2) Utah class sizes are already 1/3 above the national average class size. (3) The non-teaching professional staff -- administrators at school and district levels as well as librarians, school nurses, counselor-- are at less than 2/3 the national average staff. (4) By any measure of tested competence, Utah students perform at or above national average levels. Amazing that our students and teachers do so well with such low levels of support.

This sounds good: a commission to root out state waste and inefficiency.

I must say, though, that I laughed out loud when I read it was going to be led by Norm Bangerter. You see I remember Norm Bangerter and how much he spent to build pumps to reduce the level of the Great Salt Lake and how much he seemed to be in the palm of the Teachers' Union.
