Unbelievable

"Instead of us simply remembering ... the heroes who lost their lives on 9/11"

This is all thanks to Mr. Obama. I can't believe what this country has turned into.

fight evil with good

Apparently, I've been living under a rock.

I haven't heard of the trend to honor everything about 9/11 by turning it into a day of service.

Thanks for the story. I'm getting up now to go do a service dedicated to their honor.

what should be

remebered also is that warnings were given vehemently by people in positions over the aeronautics security well before this event..but were never taken in all seriousness!!

Seriously!

I think doing service is wonderful I really do, but come on! I really believe that today should still and forever be a day we remember loved ones and heros that lost their lives that day. We should also pay tribute to all our local fire fighters, police officers and all our armed forces. If you do decide to do service do it for them not just for your own well being to become your own local hero.

Patriot Day!

Sorry, to me this will always be 'Patriot Day'!

I still believe the only reason Pres. Obama changed the name was a 'Dig' at Pres. Bush.

Remember 'Patriot Day'! ... Serve everyday, no reason needed!

Earl

We should also remember the "terrorists'" reason for their attacks on this date: our interventionist policies in the Middle East, especially the establishment of bases in Saudi Arabia after Gulf War I. This attack didn't happen because they hated our freedoms and decadent entertainment. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying they were justified. But that's the reason OBL gave.

Honest Luke

Which side are you on, Earl?

Earl

@Honest Luke: I'm on America's side. But I'm not on our government's side. It's our government that's driving us into the ground. Which side are you on?

Cosmo

Be a Patriot, and provide service to Americans, buy more ammo! :-)

Padraik

And OBL is clearly wrong. Remembering "their reasons" is NOT something you do on 9/11. Besides, I'm not sure hate for our way of life exactly impeded their other reasons.

When we think of Pearl Harbor or the Holocaust, do we think, "Oh, let's remember Hitler had his reasons too"? Do we think, "serves you right America, all Japan wanted was an Asian empire; why did you support the Chinese in the first place"?

No.

Earl

@Padraik: I was hoping no one would twist my words, but I guess that was in vain. I did NOT say "it serves us right." I said that's the reasoning OBL used. You can say he was wrong all you want. I say he went way beyond all reason. He's a fanatic. Hitler was a fanatic as well, and no one in his right mind will excuse him for what he did. BUT there was a reason it happened! It didn't happen just because. We need to deal with the reasons and see if we can make course corrections to avoid such things in the future.
