Great work towards making politicians more accountable. Folks have lost faith in their leaders, so this is a big step toward restoring the peoples' trust.
It should be noted that Pignanelli is an experienced lobbyist, so the nay vote should come as no surprise, there.
Since politicians have failed to use their right to free speech on their own, it appears they will rightfully lose their right to free money, from questionable sources.
Keep up the outstanding stand for freedom, Gov!
P.S. If Ruzicka is the one that influences you most, may God help you
I think this is an honest effort to make honest men of our politicians. No back door bribes or agreements from lobbyists or special arrangements for friends or companies. I want my politicians to represent me, the average citizen, who does the voting, not some large company who has a large investment coming up soon and needs special zoning or other favors from the elected officials.
Keep our elected officials' hands clean.
These folks are clueless. Campaign limits in DC have driven more underground and helped keep the incumbents in office.
My question is what does bribery and fraud have to do with free speech? With the logic of our legislators, all the criminals in prison are there because they lost their right to free speech.
What happened to the honesty and open government our elected politicians were in favor of? What happened to ethics and morals and accountability? Personally it should also be mandatory that career politicians be limited to 2 terms in office. Politics should not be a career, it is supposed to be a service to the citizens of this country and state. Careers imply politics as a job, not a service and putting restrictions on them is definitely merited when it becomes a career.
The only problem with this commission is their decisions are worthless and the money wasted is in the millions. This study and its recommendations will be found at the county dumps before any elections take place. Just like all the commissions before them, political maneuvering is the only reason they are commissioned.
If Utah is going to spend all this money on commissions then any decisions or changes should be enacted by our legislators as a law.
