Touched in Seattle

It's amazing that a bunch of teenagers can show so much support to a fallen teammate. Teenagers in general are known for selfish behavior, but this act of maturity and unselfishness is proof, at least to me, that there is hope for the future. My condolences to the Wood family. It sounds like your son was an amazing person.

Props

I must give props to this baseball team, school and community. Great story. Long live #9. I will always remember this story when I hear of Valley High School.

J Wood has gone home to his father in heaven, but his young legacy lives on. You're the man #9! My heart goes out to the Wood Family. May they be comforted and blessed for their strength they have shown during this difficult time.

Farnsworth from Viewmont

Coming from a small community in Sevier County I understand the close relations of who you grow up with and my heat felt sympathies go out to the family and friends of the Wood family. Celebrate his life and don't ever forget a fallen friend.

This story was wonderful. The community sounds supportive and wonderful as well. I hope the Wood family feels a Godly comfort and peace as they adjust to their worldly loss.

HAWAII

My condolences to the Wood family. I hope that all young people (and old) will be able to read this story and understand what sport activities are really about. Good luck to his family, community and school. This experience will assist them in being successful, not just now, but for many years to come. Let us keep his spirit alive by being the kind of "teammate" that he was and will forever be.

Honest Luke

Crystal and Raymond

To the Wood Family: Having had 4 of my children play t-ball to baseball, our thoughts are with you. May you have peace. Our 4-year-old grandson died accidentally in May. Knowing he lived his life to the fullest makes knowing it was his time to return home helps immensely. Our prayers are with you.

Tragic

Freak things happen in life and there is no explanation. Losing this little boy in such a strange way hurts all the more. May the Lord bless this family and their terrible loss.

Awesome!

What a great heartwarming story. This is what is good about youth and High School sports. These boys and coaches should be commended. Best of luck to Valley!

Miss ya Jeff!

I'm a softie...

... for stories like these. The part about no right fielder to start the game brought tears to my eyes. God be with the Wood family, Jeff's friends and his team.

good teenagers

It is such a heartwarming thing to read about youth doing something good. I am sure that Jeff is proud of all his schoolmates for growing and serving and thinking of others. It is rare to hear of any kids doing anything good. To hear of a whole school and team rallying together is truly a miracle and gives us all hope for the coming generation. Good luck to all of you at your school!
