Wow, 5-6 hours for this hike? Having done it quite a few times, that seems like
a high estimate. At any rate, it is one of my favorite places to go in Northern
Utah. The White Pine lake hike is a little further, but also a nice place to
go. Occasionally I've seen moose at White Pine lake.
Having done this hike many times, we leave Logan at 6 am and are back in town at
noon. Great hike, this year on the 4th of July the snow fields and cornices
were so much fun. In August, the flowers are magnificent.
I did it in under 2.5 hours. Granted, I hike fast by myself but still...I'd say
3 or 3.5 hours would be a better estimate for a healthy adult. This is a really
good hike though. You can see for hundreds of miles even though it's not that
high at just under 10k feet. You can see Timp and the Uintas on a clear day and
the view of Cache valley is stunning.
While attending Utah State, we hiked this trail with a group during one of the
full moons in the summertime. With the full moon, you didn't need a flashlight
and could enjoy the peaceful night air. Breathtaking to view the valley from
above at night and see the stars compete for the light show. Excellent hike. Several hikers out on Saturday as my family joined me on the hike. Beautiful
views and great fall weather.

The Tony Grove to Naomi Peak trail is the easy way.
If you want strenuous, start at the High Creek trailhead on the other side of the mountains. You gain about 5,000 feet over the 6 mile distance.
The upside is that you have the entire Naomi Peak Wilderness Area pretty much to yourself.

Best camp, hike, fishing area in Northern Utah... nothing comes close to Tony Grove.
