I pledge:

To never vote for a republican again.

Patriot

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

Thank you. The GOP will be a better place.

Great article! I didn't realize you did more than sports. Keep up the good work. love your sports articles.

I know that I would never vote for a democrat...and I'm thinking of never voting for an incumbent again either. But we do need to check their voting records.

Dave

I pledge to never dunk a basketball. Makes about as much sense.

Poor Doug

Doug should go back to sports articled because he is clearly to ill informed to write op ed pieces. Slavery is still a fact throughout the world and is actually more prevalent now then when the time prior to Lincoln.

bartonjabber

I pledge to do my best to help others even stupid Hollywood celebrities.

EdM

To Poor Doug: Slavery will always be in this world but you obviously missed the point of the column. So please.....read it again and then ask yourself this question: To whom/what do we pledge as Americans?

I pledge...

...to fight this new wave of agit-prop.

Sharon

GREAT COLUMN, Doug! Thank you, thank you, thank you! I'm glad someone has a brain and doesn't just follow the party line. Thank you again.

Casey

To end slavery...
Did they just join the fight against the IRS and Federal Reserve??

EdM

Perhaps you missed my point which is that basing your argument on false assertions is a weak form of argument. No matter how you cut it Doug made false assertions about slavery in his article either out of ignorance or arrogance either way it makes for a weak argument.

This could be the worst and most embarrassing article I have ever read. Pledging to be a better neighbor, to consume less, to volunteer, to improve our environment.....tell me again why we should not uphold these values as Americans and set these examples for children?? It is sad to me that Utah schools are keeping this message from our youth. What kind of example do you set as an adult by not only disregarding, but belittling positive, encouraging messages from a figure of authority?

Doug-stick to sports!

Heather

Thank you, this is an awesome article.

Neverneocon

Robinson;

I don't know if you were trying for humor, but don't quit your sports job. You're just another right-wing nut in a state full of right-wing nuts, all of whom will find themselves among the goats and not the sheep when the time comes.

anon "This could be the worst and most embarrassing article I have ever read. Pledging to be a better neighbor, to consume less, to volunteer, to improve our environment.....tell me again why we should not uphold these values...?"

You miss the point. Pledging to 'be a Servant' to our President is unbeleiveably creepy. And, who do these hypocritical celebs think they are? The day they move out of their energy consuming mansions and stop flying a private jet for one person is the day I start thinking even for a second about listening to their ideas. Punks, all of them. And for the record: Utah teaches service better than any other state in the nation. We actually teach giving 10%, plant gardens and serve (many of us for 2 yrs). So, anon, get your facts straight so we can teach these ideas but from a place of ethical principal, not hypocritical base and servitude. If that's how it's going to be I'm out. And for the record: I'm evironmentally conscious but I'm gonna flush the water saving toilets we installed ... every time. Those people are gross & poorly informed, as usual.

Anne

I Pledge to uphold the Constitution of the United States of America and hold my elected officials responsible to the same.

I Pledge to speak out against socialism in all of it's ugly forms.

I Pledge to teach my children to respect the Inspired document that sets America apart and makes her great.

I pledge to fight for free markets, and to end government intrusion into our lives.

I pledge to hold God as my Sovereign, to serve my fellow man, but to be a servant only unto Him.

sorry

The 11:23 a.m. post was suppose to be @EdM my apologies

B

I pledge to never use the word "coterie" here in America. Let's speak English!
