Thoughts on game

could be a legit force if Unufe stays on the field. When he cramped up the Bulldogs suffered. They ran out of gas against West Jordan, too many players going both ways. It looks like the Jaguars have a couple of sophomores that are exciting talents like those two wideouts and #80 at DE. Very impressed with both quarterbacks in this one, though Unufe (and his brother Keoki get a lot of attention) Matt Griner is a consistent player and great overall athlete (one of the best baseball players in the state at catcher). The West Jordan QB Boetler is extremely impressive as well. I think if Provo can get Unufe in a bit better condition and if he and Griner stay healthy the Bulldogs have a legit shot at second in region. Region 7 is down this year so the Bulldogs can make a splash.

West Jordan's offense seems a bit mickey mouse, though it has put up points this year. They have some exciting athletes but I'm not sure they put a scare in Bingham or the other 5-A powerhouses. I think in 5-A you better be able to run the ball better.

Go WJ

This new offense is great. This QB is going to set all sorts of school passing records, not that that's going to be difficult since West Jordan has run the option for the past 20 years. Hope they can keep this mommentum going into region.

Copper Hills

Since it opened in 1995 (I think) Copper Hills has NEVER beaten WJ in a Varsity football game. WJ even beat CH twice in the 1998 season. So if my calculations are correct the series stands at 15-0 for the Jaguars

AWESOME Offense!

Wow last year we would of lost to Provo being down like we were.

I love this new offense. Amazing how fast we can score and it always keeps us in the game.

Lets drop another 40 point game on the Grizzlies next week!

Go Jags!

Exciting first half Provo, your technique is thrilling to watch. Keep on keeping on guys.

Thoughts on Game

It does seem that West Jordan's offense is fun to watch and it puts points on the board etc. etc. etc. and perhaps is a bit better than the WJ offenses of the past. They have a great quarterback from the looks of things and some good young skill players and a line that looks polished. However, unlike the option this is an offense that takes an inordinate amount of practice time to coordinate and from the looks of things WJ's defense and special teams need work, especially the latter as they gave up one kickoff return for a TD and another was called back on a very dubious call. This is the trade off. Also, West Jordan has played a soft schedule. Granger is 1-2 with a win over a Nevada team, East is 0-3 and got waxed by Mountain Crest and when facing an improved Provo team trailed 28-19 at half. If West Jordan can beat Bingham and Riverton (who is 1-2 currently) then I would say that this new offense has not only provided excitement but real dividends in taking West Jordan to the next level.

Mickey Mouse

How can an offense be "Mickey Mouse" when they are averaging 42 points a game. (I bet there are a lot of teams that would like a "Mickey Mouse" offense that could put up those type of numbers)

If Provo ran that "Mickey Mouse" offense they may of just won the game.

I believe the WJ QB threw for 250 and rushed for 150. That looks like a balanced attack to me. (We may not scare Bingham but I am sure the rest of the region is nervous to play us.)

Watch this "Mickey Mouse" offense drop 50 on Copper Hills this week!

Provo

The Unufe brothers are AMAZING! Maka is fun to watch, and definity the BEST player on the team!
PROVO--Rotate your line! This is just my obeservation but you line was exhasted! What is up the NO rotation? I don't get it

RE Mickey Mouse

No, the rest of the region is not scared at all. WJ is a basketball school only. Probably always will be.

Its Provo u let them have 28 points!!! LAME, provo like a bad 3a school like ogden used to be.

Question?

How can you not be a little scared of an offense putting up those kinds of numbers? The new Quarterback is the real deal. This is a different West Jordan team than any team before. They finally have a solid QB so they don't have to rely on their backs as their only option on offense.. I'm sayin they finish second in region.

Good job WJ. You moved the ball consistently last night and pushed Provo backward all night long. If you wouldn't have given up a few big plays it would have a been a total blood bath.

The Unufes are great players, I hope Maka is O.K., Great job Provo Q.B. too. You kept your cool when things got hairy.

There were several big plays by both teams negated by dubious calls. To any refs who may read this: "Let 'em Play!" It was like watching the Raiders play the Raiders.

adam boelter is an absolute stud! as a former wj quarterback i can say that he could potentialy be the best quarterback to ever come out of west jordan. as a junior, he has every quality you want as your main guy, he has a great arm, he is smart, and he knows how to lead his team. i cant wait to see him fully develope as a player

Thoughts on Game

Okay, "Mickey Mouse" might be a bit harsh. So far so good, so it seems. From my observations I loved the Boelter kid, he's a great talent. Also liked the young guns at receiver. However, still not sure that this is the style of offense that will get West Jordan over the top. I would be impressed for sure if:

A) West Jordan scores 20 plus points against Bingham. I'm not saying they need to win but a prolific offense as claimed by the above posters would score 20 plus on a very good team (Alta scored 34 for example).

B) Beat Riverton, though 1-2, I see as being a solid team this year. If the Jaguars can beat Riverton, a ball control team, then I say the Jags are really on to something.

C) WIN a playoff game. West Jordan typically makes the play-offs, though last year they were kept out (after starting 6-0 by the way I do believe). But to be convinced that all is awesome about these changes, West Jordan will need to win a playoff game and if they do beat Riverton they should be hosting one.

Another Jag Alumni

As a former WJ player and longtime Jaguar fan, I can name every starting QB for WJ back to 1991 (yeah, I'm that big of a loser). No way is this Boelter kid the best QB ever at the school. His passing stats will be better than most, since he's the ONLY QB to have a passing offense. But I can name three QB's better than him in this decade:

Andrew Wolfgramm, Jack Roberts, and Eric Dunn

All were over six feet tall, Wolfgramm (technically played in 1999 season) threw sharp passes. Both Roberts and Dunn could run fast, Roberts had the better deep ball, while Dunn (the tallest) was a better touch passer. Roberts was probably the best of the three.

So while this Boelter kid will rack up the numbers, he's not the best QB WJ has had.

Riverton Junior Class

Lets face it Riverton is the power in the region. We have a great group of under classmen that will take state next year for sure and will beat Bingham this year to take the region title. (we beat them last year as sophs) and yes we will be playing at the U this year as well. There is no team in our region that will be able to beat us. We have played a very tough preseaon schedule and teams, such as K-Town, CH, WJ, T-ville just to don't have what it takes and Bingham well lets just say our coaches have assured us this year will be different!
Go class of 2011! - It's our time now.

to another jag alumni

they played in totally different offenses number one two all those guys you just named only played their senior year this kid is only a junior i hope the three that you listed could run they ran the triple option you probley played back then
plus ps eric dunn threw 18 picks his year to his 10 touch downs great picks dude

You're right

You're absolutely right, those three QB's played when WJ was full of talent year in year out, that you didn't have to rely on a Junior to play up.

Granted, I think Boelter looks good and I think he is going to combine for close to 25-30 TD's. I just think that with the talent WJ had in the past, if they could've run this offense, his numbers wouldn't look so impressive. With that said, I hope Boelter can take this team further into the playoffs than the QB's before him. GO JAGS.

PS. Jack Roberts was the best QB that I've seen, his leadership, his arm strength, and how he couldn't be brought down by only one defender. He would've tore it up in this offense.

No love for cache money morgan at the QB spot.. come on now
