I hate to say it, and I'd be the happiest person in town if I were incorrect, but I think you got the score right. BYU will be outmatched physically, and will have a tough time keeping Oklahoma out of Max Hall's pocket. Prove me wrong!
Gulp!!!!! That's enough to make you choke on your own Adams Apple! Now let's go keep it respectable and play some DDDDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!
I wonder what score Dick predicted for BYU v. Miami back in the day?
Go into this game feeling optimistic, people. Otherwise, it's no fun.
How is this a big surprise. BYU is always outmatched by talent vs. any top 20 team. Always has been. They have to try the unexpected to keep the opponent off their game: hurry-up offense, trick plays, onside kicks, spread offense, everyone goes deep, blitz once in a while, etc. That's how Boise State did it and Utah did it vs. better competition.
Typically, BYU goes into these matchups nervous and starry-eyed and tries to play straight-up football. I predict this will be one of the worst losses BYU ever has. Then we can get on with the season. It would be nice if we went in with some confidence and could bring our A game on Offense and Defense. That only happened once - in September 1990. At home.
The final score will be scary. But hey, let's give it our best, guys! Go cougars!
Y 35, OU 24
We are on our way to a NC, next up is FSU who will probably lose to the Y by 3 TDs or more
People do not realize that the Y has smarter and more talented players than OU and FSU
Well, BYU is about to destroy everything that the MWC gained last year.
Will be quite happy to have the score respectable. If our stats our anything like Oregon on Thursday, well, we will tumble to the cellar. No blow-outs, keep it close and respectable, maybe a faulty run at the end to keep it exciting. I'll be happy with that. Overwhelmed should we get the upset.
OK has talent edge...duh. They also have that edge on the rest of the MWC, Big 12, Big 10, most of the SEC...
duuuuuuh
We already know you're the underdog Cougs! No news here, the whole nation does...all we want as fans is hard play and no matter what...YOU ARE OUR TEAM! That's why 15,000 of us are in Dallis today!
Gooooo Coouuggssss!!!!!!
the wind will come sweeping down on byu as the lamanite kicks the nephite so to speak...so geti up and circle your wagons while you got a chance ...don't even think about the utes...it's that heisman tropy native american who'll be slinging the arrows at you.
I think that prediction is about right on. I do have more hope now that their big TE is out. OU is breaking in new receivers and their TE was their primary weapon in the passing game - especially early in the season. I agree with Dick that a lot depends on whether Unga plays at full strength. No Unga is just as devastating to the Cougs as no Gresham is to OU. Tonga back is huge for this game but without Unga he really is neutralized. And of course the other big question is whether our extremely inexperienced o-line can keep Hall upright against the best front 7 in football. We can only afford a couple of three and out's. We have to move the chains and keep their offense on the sideline as much as possible. Much like BSU did to Oregon early even though they didn't score each time. Many things will have to align for the Cougs to be in this game but one things for sure - I haven't been this excited about an opener in years. Extremely smart of Mendenhall to let the Cougs tour the stadium Friday. Go Cougs!!
Wow that's almost the same as my prediction, 42-17. I hope BYU can somehow pull it off though!
Mark it down.
I don't get it he says OK's offense is soo good then says but don't worry about the offensive line, no recievers and an injury to the TE. To me that equates to big holes in the offense.
Flip that prediction around and it fits better to his facts.
My prediction BYU 48 OK 41
Where do you people think BYU is going to get this offense from? Yes, they have a GOOD offense in the Mountain West, but did anyone remember what happened last year against Utah, TCU and Arizona? We only were able to score 28 against a terrible UW team - this was a team that lost by 60 to OU.
OU is going to score 50+ and BYU will have a couple of field goals at best. Our offense is good for the Mountain West, but not the cream of the crop in NCAA.
Hang in there Cougars. You are the only ones with enough courage to play good teams. Losing to the #3 team is better than slipping past the #110 team.
My biggest concern is that BYU ends up looking inept due to stupid play calling in critical situations like what we saw last year. The players are capable if given a chance.
