That's cool seeing the dogs herd the sheep. Great images. Maybe I'll have to check it out this weekend.

I'm sorry I missed this competition - I love border collies and have one of my own who is the smartest dog I've ever seen. There is something uncanny about the way these dogs zero in on the sheep and stare them down into moving along that has to be seen to be believed. Unfortunately border collies are misunderstood and do not always make the best dogs for families with small children whom they try to herd as well, which is why great numbers of them ending up in shelters and rescues. These are wonderful dogs, and the most rewarding of pets but they also require consistent physical exertion, so don't get one unless you can spend some time every day walking one or playing with them. They aren't meant to be cooped up in small apartments either. Please remember these things if you think you want a border collie just please be sure it will be the right pet for you.
