Holland continues his practice of deception and spin. I will not pledge servitude to this or any president, Democrat or Republican.
Little affection for children and young adults is seen as roots of this great recession :
1. Too few parents know about CHIP program.
2. They are more worried about the Afghanistan war than future energy.
3. Of young adults ages 19 to 29, 13.2 million, or 29 percent, lacked coverage in 2007.
current generation is to build a bridge for generations to come, and it will be great for both, too. By converting Incredible waste in health care system into funding for the uninsured young adults, both generations are better off after all, otherwise, Medicare and Medicaid system are also facing insolvency.
4. Two thirds of Americans don't understand what the Obama administration and Democrats in Congress are proposing, according to a new CBS poll.
5. War-focusing allies are afraid of Science / Innovation.
Since he is losing his influence on adults with a rapidly dropping approval rating the kids are his next best option.
I wanted to know what's the problem with Obama speaking to the school kids, but your story doesn't answer my question. Article reads more like a P.R. piece from the Demos. Why are the right-wingers upset?
I would like the whole story from both sides so I can form an informed opinion! Both sides of every story should be in stories to balance the story -- unless you follow certain editors' idea of balancing a story from one week to another and leaving your readers wondering when they'll get the whole story.
It may have been in a story earlier, but people, besides newspaper people, don't actually read the paper -- or check out your Website every day! They have a life outside mass media!
There is good reason to protest. The president is giving our children the false idea that he is actually inspirational. The man has a silver tounge. He speaks with platitudes and grand agreeable phrases to make kids and his disciples feel like everything is going to be OK. All we need to do is just get along with him. When in reality his passes laws espousing deep debt, socialized programs and disreguard for the life of an unborn child. He is a walking contradiction and I don't want him anywhere near my kids.
I really don't think it's right for Obama to give a telecast in schools. If he wants to talk to kids he should it like any other president has done it..during primetime TV where they can sit with their parents and watch it. I am totally against this.
I think he (obama)is trying to create a goverment that controls life in the U.S. Him and his buddies are willing to try anything no matter what the price might be.
Now that I have some Demos and Liberal reading this I would like to ask you a Question. What I would like to know is what happened to the Anti-War Movement. Where is the rally at the City County building? Where is Rocky Anderson giving his speeches?
How is killing our soldiers and innocent Iraqi and Afghans civilians so immoral under a Republican President and then magically O.K under a Democrat?
Where these not the Democrats who argued over who would withdraw Troop's the quickest?
Cindy Sheehan recently held a protest at Marta's Vineyard the Presidents vacation home and no one went nor did the press cover it.
For many Liberal activists opposing the war was really about opposing the failed Bush policy's. When Bush disappeared so did their Anti-War passion.
Could it be that it is now the Democrats turn to profit from this Illegal, Immoral and unjust war? Afganistan is now Obama's Vietnam as he ships more Troops there. Where is the Man who brings the boys home?
Mr. Holland, there's something you have obviously overlooked. Though we haven't yet heard it, it isn't the message that we're concerned about - it's the messenger! And as stated in this article, it's Obama's socialist ideology and his track record over the past seven months that tells it all. The man has put us on a path of economic ruin. Literally, every action he has taken has been aimed at bringing this nation under the bondage of Socialism. And as President Ezra Taft Benson said back in the eighties, Socialism is another form of communism. And lastly, it's the people's right under the Constitution, to express these views and take the position they are taking.
Our local school district in Ohio has chosen not to show the speech live, too. While I am generally an Obama supporter, there is an uneasy feeling about the "captive" nature of the set-up.
Why should parents and the citizens of america trust a man that is trying to indoctrinate our children with socialism and government dependence? If what he has to say is so important then let it be said to all americans, not just the children who can easily be fooled by his position. Why should we parents and citizens of america allow Obama to run weekly speeches of indoctrination and lies to our children. He doesn't even promote america or our constitution in his speeches, he is promoting his ways to socialism. Our representatives should be paying attention to what he is doing and stop hiding themselves in a closet in denial.
Our state demos should be more cautious of this man and how he has been doing irrational and immoral acts of deceit. Obama hides himself from the american people in his new Palace and won't even address the adults, so why should we allow him to talk only to children? This is how Hitler began his way to power, turn children against their parents as criminals of the state in order to break up family ties and trust. This is a dangerous concept to allow.
President’s decision to wear shoes that tie over slip on shoes this morning draws protest from republicans.
I am an indep. voter. To have any school or school district to dis the president by making sure children of this great nation miss his talk is insulting to our intelligence and our ability to discuss things.
Grow up people. It is the President of the United States talking. You respect the office, always.
Put the nuts back in the can, please.
I can't think of a better role model to discuss the importance of education with schoolchildren than Pres. Barack Obama. He was born to a young mother, lived in modest circumstances, and yet excelled academically, graduating from Columbia University and editing the Harvard Law Review. He is the author of two best-selling memoirs. This is a great opportunity for our children.
No other President has ever sought to speak to ALL Elementary school kids at the same time just to talk about his priorities, and how they can help him. Sounds like Dear Leader to me. It's flat-out inapprorpiate, no matter what his Democratic defenders may say. Bush, Reagan, Carter, even serial narccisist, Bill Clinton, didn't try to do that. It's just wrong and Orwellian.
So Utah Dem official says Utahns need to "show him [President Obama] the "respect he deserves?" I agree, the office of the President deserves respect, but the "man" or individual is a different thing. I'll show Obama the same kind of respect that Move-On, Daily Kos, Michael Moore and left-wing hollywood types gave George W. Bush! I was on the National Mall the day Obama was sworn into office just to witness history. I was disgusted beyond words to hear the unprintable epithets and character assasinations and profanity in the Obama adoring crowd against George W. Bush when his name was mentioned by Obama in his remarks, but especially when Bush's helicopter left and flew out of dc. The comments were absolutely beyond description. So, respect is a two-way street among the sides of the aisle. It must also be earned. It's hard to respect a new President when he allows his cronies and radical staff members, like Van Jones, "Green Jobs" czar to call Republicans an unmentionable orifice of the human body. ANd Obama does NOTHING to condemn or repudiate those remarks of his top staffer!!!!!!
With most presidents, I would agree with the Democrats that this is merely a harmless but inspirational talk to promote education.
However, given the avowed intent of Obama's close associate William Ayers to use the educational system to destroy this country, we can not accept at face value any claims that his is a benign event.
As clearly evident from the (now sanitized) teacher guide materials shoveled out by the White House, this is much more of an effort to promote a "cult of personality."
If skeptics are right, the damage will already have been done if school children are exposed to such propaganda efforts. No amount of after the fact correction or response from the other side will cleanse their minds of what they were first exposed to.
Sadly, our President has a proven history of stating things that are false, or taking actions contrary to his promises. Allowing him unfettered access to our childrens' minds is not in their best interest or that of the country.
I am ashamed that the Canyons school district is allowing this propagandizing to take place!
of Obama! How dare he attempt to indoctrinate our children with the idea that school is a good thing! We all know education is to be feared because it makes you liberal!
If Obama is going to indoctrinate our children, he needs to follow in Reagan's footstep and indoctrinate them in the evils of high taxes! At least Bush I focused on "Just say no!"
The worst thing about Obama's education-is-good speech is that it is not even original - Bush II stated he couldn't "understand ... what's so great about being stupid."
It isn't the speech text that is important. Look at what they are asking the teacher's to do before and after the speech, and the fact that they are requiring feedback from the children on the importance of the speech and committing to do "things" having nothing to do with education in the schools.
