Well, it's about freakin' time!
It's funny how it takes westsiders 10 years to get projects promised to them. You will recall this airport line was originally the other half of the University line.
Anther observation: you see Sugahouse folks decide they would like to have streetcars - everyone is tripping over themselves to make that happen NOW. Maybe they will have to wait 10 years to see it happen. NOT.
It is not time! This is a completely innappropriate use of tax payer money. The government's sole constitutional purpose is to protect us from crime and foreign invasion. This project accomplishes neither of these goals, and thus, is unconstitutional.
Hey, when did the westside get computers!
Finally, with this open I can cut down on my travel bill from Tooele to the University.
Often times University students outside the Wasatch front get over looked by public transit, even though we really need it.
Using that logic, the road you drove on this morning and the school that taught you how to read and write are unconstitutional as well.
Hey Slag0500 apparently the government isn't even doing that very well because you sure sound like someone a real American would like to keep out of this country. Which planet are you from anyhow?
go somewhere else PLEASE! we are paying more tax than before - so get a life - it is about time we're getting it at the airport - you must be from Draper who some people don't want it there.
I don't see how a connection at the hub for the airport TRAX isn't feasible. If it can get to the Arena station, it can just as well add the proper tracks to keep going down to the hub.
Yeah!
i am so glad we moved here and more efficient transportation is underway and in use, compared to back east.
to slag0500- go east, go east. you will be happier there.
Where did you get your information? Do you think it is the responsibility of the government to provide a currency? Without that, we'd still be trading chickens. What about maintain lands for recreational use of the people? You think a private company would want to do that? What about people with disabilities? Should they be left to the elements if their families can't or won't care for them? I deficate on your idea of government Slag.
The US Constitution states that a role of the Federal government is to promote the general welfare of the nation.
Us westsiders starting using the computer machine atleast 8 months ago.
As someone from outside SLC, I think this is fabulous and will have many other cities envious of Salt Lake area. Combined with all the other rail projects, this will lead to greater economic development in the long term.
What do 13,500 people do at the SL Airport? No wonder it cost so much to fly.
It's about time! Only 8 years late!
To the airport? Or is it going to the International Center beyond the airport?
It makes sense to me to have a Trax line that goes to the West side, but why to the airport?
I fly quite often, and I'm not going to get on a bus with my suitcase, carry-on and briefcase, and make a transfer or two to get to the airport Trax line. And do the same thing when I get in at 10 pm on the return flight.
My neighbor an employee of UTA says the rider pays about 15% of the cost on a bus. What is it on a light rail? Why can't we have a cost breakdown of this stuff? I understand advertising pays some and it is worth while to get a few cars off the roads, but 15 cents on the dollar is too much subsidy.
We had a several-hour layover in Amsterdam last year. The deciding factor for what to do with all that time was the rail system. It was ridiculously easy to get from the airport to downtown. One benefit of a rail system to/from the airport is for tourism and ease of visiting this city.
Another perk is not having to have someone drop you off at the gate...just a quick lift to the closest station and off you go. As a student I get free bus/rail passes and will most definitely be using the TRAX line to the airport!
So I say, "FINALLY!" Thank you SLC for making this a priority. And as a Sugar House resident, thanks for the street cars too!
Slag: thank you for amending the Constitution. Next time you amend it, though, could you insert something derogatory about the NY Yankees? Thanks.
