We are John Valentine

"we'll announce we're running." Really? Does he carry a mouse with him?

We'll??

Him and the Eagle Form. He is their puppet!!

CBT

Between Valentine and Herbert, you have the intellectual weight of a paper clip. And the charisma of one as well. Both fail in my book. Either is fine for Lt. Gov, but I want neither in the big chair.

Go for it!

I'd even consider moving to Utah just to vote for him. Valentine has a great understanding of the proper role of government. He is fiscally conservative, and he believes law should be simple and consistent, so it is easy to follow and enforce. We need more like him in politics.

The Winner

So Valentine or Herbert will be the winner, but, either way, the State of Utah is the loser.

Always appalling that we sell some of the cheapest cigarettes in the country--the tobacco lobby is alive and well--I wonder what they gave our elected leaders? All corrupt, every one of them.

Keith Holdaway

They are both good men. Recently I went to help the all night rescue of the Men from Utah lake only to find that Valentine was leading the rescue effort which took all night......I admire the man even more now

I'm sure both are good men.

My question is "what are they going to do about education funding in Utah?"

If it is to keep the status quo, neither will get my vote.

Utah Native

John Valentine is a very intelligent, values-oriented man with the capacity to lead Utah in the right direction. I have known him and his family since the 1970's and have visited with him regarding many legislative issues over the years and have found him to be a great advocate. CBT, you don't know what you are talking about and I'd love to compare your "intellectual weight" to his.

The classic distinction between Democrats and Republican policies coming to the fore - to raise or not to raise taxes during difficult enconomic times. Does keeping taxes low (frozen) increase economic activity and thus generate future government income at a modest level or does it hurt a significant portion of the population needlessly and impair the general consuming population its ability to expand economic activity? Does a line of credit thought of as an investment in health care, education, and infrastructure allow for a better economic climate and thus promote the economy or does the government expenditure saddle the state with a worsening credit rating and keep corporations and people from spending more? Anybody want to pick a side?

I know John well, both professionally and from working with him in the legislature. He's a good man. And contrary to CBT, he's got significant intellectual firepower. In addition, while John may be careful to pick his spots about when to cross Gayle Ruzicka and the Eagle Forum, I don't have any question that he'd do just that on important issues when push came to shove.

We could do a lot worse than to have John Valentine lead the state.

I know John. He is honest.

SuperDell is my poolboy

Conservatives like him say they are for smaller government but when it comes to how you live your life, they are for more laws on how to regulate that.

Oh Please

Geez,so what? Tweedle Dee Dee Dum. Two Utah County Republicans. This is gonna be a hard choice...

Rob

While I know that John is an honest and good man, the only issue I have with him is that he is against credit unions. He consistantly takes the sides of banks in all matters. If you like your credit union, beware of John Valentine. Check his record is all I say.

Really?

His own colleagues voted him out of the President's chair, doesn't that say something about his leadership? And of course he's going to enter the race, his ego won't let him not enter...obviously I'm not a huge Valentine fan, but he is smart regardless of what CBT says.

Herbert better

John Valentine is an honorable and decent guy and would be okay as Governor, and far preferable to ANY Democrat nominated in the last 20 years.

However, Herbert has the true conservative beliefs and goals that I think will best help our state.

Stick with Gary Herbert, unless he screws up badly....

Roger

Good idea for Valentine to run
