THANK YOU! Why is it that humans think they have the right to trample the ground every place they can think of? Personally, I think land masses should be set aside for no human (walking, biking, riding) contact. The Kaparowitz (sp) Plateau is one example. We do not have to go everywhere. Let some land be without us!

Geezer

BLM struck a balance in its monument plan, providing many miles of roads and ATV trails as well as wilderness. Kane County has wasted Utah taxpayers' money in trying to overturn the plan.

Why is Amy Joi O'Donoghue so in love with Mike Noel and company?! Her stories always are so biased in tone - she's so in the tank for Kane County! She only quotes from the one judge who dissented, and claims in the first paragraph that "access to federal lands received a setback." That ignores that the Monument already has a designated road system to get folks where they need to go. Try a little balance, Amy!

If the enviros wanted the SL Valley to be a wilderness area, the 10th circut court would aprove it.

SL Valley for wilderness!! You have to admit it would help with the air quality problems.

Kane County and their rediculous lawsuits are an embarassment to the state of Utah and a waste of taxpayer money. Get real Kane County and stop listening to Mike Noel. He is leading you down a crazy path.

Kane County must raise taxes to pay for frivolous lawsuits!

Thats a sad ruiling

These are not new roads that they created after the crock that the Grand Staircase NM is. These are roads that have been in use longer then any of us have been alive. The problem started when the crook Clinton decided to screw Utah over and make a National Monument and take away the rights of the public in a Bill that he would not even have the dignity to come to Utah and sign. he signed it in Arizona.

If these terrorist groups like SUWA and other extreme environmentalist groups had there way we would all be walking everywhere and nobody would be allowed in any of the back country or our National Parks.

These groups are extreme in what they do and if you donate to them you are not helping the environment you are helping to fund there Law Suits and court cases.

The only real environmental groups that have helped wilderness, wildlife, and habitat are groups like Mule Deer Foundation, Pheasants Forever, Trout Unlimited etc... Groups created by Sportsman that actually do care about the environment and the use that is our right and privalage

not sad at all

These aren't roads at all in any reasonable sense of the word. This is just childish behavior by a handful of local officials who are completely full of themselves, who would rather get their names in the paper than manage taxpayer's money wisely.

Just Wondering

Why does this article site so extensively from the dissenting opinion and not from the majority opinion?

Eco-nazi's like SPK, reveal their true intentions, when he stated that humans should be restricted, from, "walking, biking, riding", in land masses, that they choose. No, walking, no riding horses, etc. May we fly over the ground, all powerful Sue-ya?

any person who has been there knows that these ARE roads. "not sad at all" and other environmentalist wackos are not normal people. They have a warped sense of themselves and reality.

Wilderness is a disease of the mind
