Swine-flu unlikely to become 'superbug'

Hmm ... maybe I'm just a bit too suspicious. But if this isn't going to turn into a Super Bug - then why all the hype?

I guess the government just wants to keep us going from one crisis to the next.

"We've got to do it now, or we're all doomed!"

Oh no, I'm so frightened ... please help me federal government. Ya right ... just like you helped all those people during Katrina.

Frankly, I'm tired of jumping through the federal government's hoops. And I don't believe for a minute that they've done a good enough job pretesting the vaccine.

I'm old enough to remember the Swine Flu fiasco during President Ford's time. The VACCINE killed more people that year than the flu did and sickened many others. And all the federal government could say was -

"Gee, we're sorry something must have gone wrong."

By the way, this time around the government has "protected" the pharmaceutical companies by making it impossible for you to sue them if they foul up and kill/sicken you or your kids.

Starting with the Bush campaign and Levitt as head of HHS we have had these scare campaigns. I am not sure why. I worked for decades in Public Health for the Feds and we always tried to down play these types of issues and just explain the facts. After all, these issues get blown out of proportion without the help of the health authorities.

The fact is we really don't know how this virus will mutate. It could get worse but it has an equal chance of getting weaker. Back in the 70's I advised against the swine flu shot because we really didn't see much sign of the disease. Today, I advise getting the shot. Our immunization technology is much better and safer and we definitely see a very virulent virus that could cause significant disease and threaten some lives.

Thanks Doctor.

I don't know exactly what Bush and Levitt were up to in the 70's, but I'm sure they were plotting the first ever "scare tactic" to be foisted upon an unsuspecting populace.

Ohhh, that sneaky Bush!

@rvalens2: Couldn't you have just said you're not going to get the shot? And from where do you get your information that the last swine flu vaccine killed more people than the flu?
