I can't wait to bag some! Who cares about permits?
to a non native speices of wolves. One that has exceeded it's population goals by 600% Should there be some? Yes of course. Should the be protected at his point to continue destroying wildlife heards? NO. While I will never do it I know many that will practice the Triple S rule in utah if they show. That would be Shoot, Shovel, Shutup
Twenty five yards what a shot that must be some kind of a record.
YES!!!
I can't believe some people's need to be so savage! Why can't we as a civilization learn from our experiences and mistakes? We almost eradicated a beautiful creature less than a decade ago. We need to be more proactive and less reactive. Times have changed folks move away from your good ole boy, gun slinging roots and think before you shoot.
All rednecks ready to hunt! What a "sport", killing WAS NEVER AND WILL BE NEVER A SPORT
Hey, our grandfathers and great grandfathers had it right, then along come the environmentalists who just take things too far. Now it's herd carnage and fear of wolves to worry about.
THere is a GOOD reason why they gray wolf was hunted to extinction.
Oh, and that bit about them not ever attacking humans....I personally know two people that have been attacked by wolves. One of the cases the wolves were actually domesticated (aka TAME).
Wolves do damage to the environment and animal populations (domestic and wild) and they breed like rabbits. GET RID OF ALL OF EM! THey are like the flu...they are a menace. BUt unlike the flu, they are a menace that can be erradicated.
Herd carnage is what humans inflict. I've heard complaints from other people about how the wolves in northern Idaho and Washington are decimating the elk herds, and that we have to start hunting wolves before there aren't any elk left.
Left for what...for us to hunt?
Bet you a million bucks (which I don't have...do you?) that if the wild herd animal populations in the West were healthy, they'd reach an equilibrium with the wolves ON THEIR OWN.
Or wait...were you talking about cattle and sheep? Our grandfathers and great grandfathers are the ones that brought them in. And then hunted wolves to near extinction. But it's those darn environmentalists that always cause problems. Killing off an entire species isn't going too far?
Wolves are nothing to be afraid of. They don't generally eat people, you know.
"Tame wolf" is a contradiction in terms. There's NO SUCH THING. Anybody who thinks they've domesticated a wolf and then gets bitten by it is only reaping the fruit of their own stupidity. (We can only hope innocent bystanders don't get injured because some moron thinks wolves are pets.)
Going along with what "Herd carnage" said: Wolves don't damage "the environment." They damage the domestic environment people have set up. Wolves were a perfectly functioning part of "the environment" before we came in and rearranged it.
Looks to me like the only real menace wolves pose is to your misconceptions.
Shoot every single wolf. Then start with bears and mountain lions. Make man the top of the food chain.
It scares me how much blood lust these Idaho hunters have. (Including you, Robert Millage and Richard Huff.)
When hunting is a necessity, it should be done with respect for God’s creatures, and not with greedy, unrestrained, blood lust.
You make an interesting point;"They don't generally eat people". So it seems you are in fact acknowledging that they do in fact eat people on occasion. So which life is more valuable? A wild predator or a human being? What if it were your child out enjoying the beauty of nature when a hungry wolf pack shows up? And they don't reach an equilibrium in the way you describe it. With wolves they typically reproduce and hunt to the point that the game populations get so low that many of the wolves starve to death. Thus lowering the population of wolves. The game animals then of course make a comeback and it goes in a continual cycle. Population control through hunting provides a much more stable "equilibrium" for the predator and the prey. And typical of lefty loons you completely overstate to the point of blatant dishonesty your claim of killing off the species. With the money Wyoming and Montana invested in bring wolves back, you really thing they are going to let them be over-hunted?
According to local scientists (wildlife biologists) wolf predation has in fact reduced some elk herds here to below sustainable numbers (2% of elk calves survive first year of life). I don't hate wolves but something has to be done to reduce their numbers! This isn't the "old west" anymore where wolves can disperse and roam at will. Their habitat is very limited and their numbers need to be controlled for the benefit of the wolves, their prey and for humans who have to live with them! Emotions from Easterners and people who live in cities who have never seen a wolf doesn't cut it! Nature is never emotional and emotions have no place in science! Let professional wildlife scientists manage wolves, not emotions!
I read an article in a magazine a few years ago with a documented case of wolves attacking and killing a man. Wolves are great in movies and in a zoo. Wolves and humans don't coexist well. It would be nice if they were moved to Canada.
As a dyed-in-the-wool conservative, I think this is absolutely disgusting. I hope the feds step in and do something about this. I can't believe I'm saying that. I don't like Federal intervention, but I hope they do something to save the wolves. I'm so sick and tired of these blood thirsty hunters.
If you knew anything about nature you would know that there are indeed natural control methods. They are stavation and disease.
Only with man's intervention can herds be maintained at or near carrying capacity without major die offs every seven years or so.
There are plenty of wolves in canada and alaska they have never needed protection in the first place.
Wolve are the savages. They are predators, nothing else. Wolves kill an elk, eat a bite or two, then move on to the next victim. They won't attack a sick animal, what would be the fun in that? People in Hailey and Sun Valley are afraid to let their children and pets outside. Why is a wolf more valuable than a human, or an elk, or the family dog? If you were surrounded by a pack of wolves, things might look different. My husband was, and he was ready to shoot, fine or no fine.
Wolves are the savages. They are predators that kill just to kill. Wolves will attack and kill a healthy bull elk, have a bite or two, then move on to their next victim. Wolves will not kill a sick animal, what would be the fun in that? People in Hailey and Sun Valley are afraid to let their children and pets outside. Why is a wolf more valuable than a human, or an elk, or the family dog?
