OU has a strong Def. line Our guys need to remember, that you play one play at a time. Give it too them on that one play...Block and they can't get thru you.......don't let them push you around, You do the pushing. And you will have the most fun of your college career. I played OL, I remember one school was twice as big, and were all faster than we were. But we got our heads together and said that we were not going to let one DL thru our line. They had recorded 21 previous sacks, we held them to O---------and one the game going away..........

"Cougars O-line looking forward to Oklahoma challenge."

Hmm ... be careful what you wish for ... sometimes you get it.

"If the Cougars,... decide to take an eighth O-lineman, it would be true freshman Fono Vakalahi ..."

Coach, go ahead and play him, sooner or later this season you are going to need him (due to sickness or injury).

Score more points

Execute. Play hard. Follow the game plan. Keep your heads. Give it a 110%. Believe in yourselves. Play as a team. Have fun. And keep your heads up when you get whupped.

no chance

Byu has no chance. Don't believe me- look up Gerald McCoy on youtube. Frightening. He is a lock to be a top 3 overall pick in the draft next year, and byu is throwing a freshman at him.

I'm glad they understand that giving Hall time to throw the ball is key. If they can do that then I think they have a great chance to win.

Korlof

They should probably try living as righteously as they can this week because if Elder Collie is right, than they'll need all the help they can get this weekend. Their O-line will give up 8 sacks. Good luck though, I wish TDS would represent for the MWC but I just don't see it happening. We'll see though, I've been wrong before. Heckofa first game, and horrible history against ranked opponents (1-25?) but perhaps they'll put together a strong game and their D will force some mistakes. Doubtful, but like I said, they live righteously and maybe their prayers will be answered. That'd be pretty sweet if they pulled it off or atleast gave a decent fight.

Re: Korlof

That was the most contradicting post I've ever read.

O-Line

The flood gates will open Saturday as Sooners run wild into the BYU backfield. The game is out of reach, the goal should be not to get Maxie killed.

Feel Bad

I just feel bad for the O-line... it's like sending cattle to the slaughterhouse, and the cattle are looking forward to it. It's going to be a LONG day for Max.

No kidding about McCoy

He will be eating BYU meat. I feel sorry for the Cougars.
This will be an ugly start to the year. And I hope they have enough players healthy for the next game.

Crimson Club

If BYU wins, I will personally donate $5,000.00 to BYU's general endowment. This is a promise.

Blue Shades Removed

At 43, overweight and with a bad knee I would love to walk over to the church and put down a 360 slam dunk. But all the position mastery, cross-training, and knowledge transfer in the world just won't make the impossible happen. And so it is with the Cougar offensive line against the nations best front seven. I'm sure these kids will give it their all but our very inexperienced, injured and depleated line just will not be able to hold up against a front seven in which all will be in the NFL at some point. The goal really is to keep Hall and Unga alive.

I'm afraid

that the writing is on the wall. I just hope BYU shows up to play so there are not comments after from BM that the team was not ready to play because he didn't prepare them. (BM favorite line) More of a concern is the defense. BM has not changed the defense since he has been there. All the oponents have figured out the defense because it never changes. BM is a good coach for the Mountain. But as a coach preparing a team for the national stage, he just is not good enough. If BYU wants the glory it used to have on the national scene they need a new coach badly.

Prediction

Before the half is over R. Nelson will be the QB because Hall is going to get hurt. And then watch the slaughter. The O line cannot protect Hall, I'm afraid no matter how hard they try.

reality

Gaskins will be playing by the 4th quarter.

His decision to demote himself had more to do with not wanting to face the OU defense when the 1st string in than knowing that by being 3rd string he could face OU's scout team in the 4th quarter.

More touchdowns

I think the thing BYU needs to win the game is to score more touchdowns and they also need to keep Oklahoma from scoring touchdowns. I think that is the key to the game. - Smart Utah Fan

Coach

Have you seen the OK defense...their coach leads them onto the field with a bone. They are the Terminators with a capital T! Won't even be close, OK by 28 points and that's only because the reserves begin in Q3.

Ute Trolls

I see that Ute Trolls invaded last night; probably the same bored Ute fan who had nothing better to do on his graveyard security guard shift.

-----------------------------

Playing Oklahoma to start the season is a great opportunity for BYU. I look forward to the Cougars giving the Sooners a very competitive game. Win or lose, and a win is not impossible, I'm sure that the vast majority of BYU fans would rather see this type of opener every year, rather than playing a D1-AA team like Northern Iowa.

Inside scoop....

I can't name my source (of course) but the definitive word is that the "winning" attitude of the BYU team has improved at an increased rate the past 5-7 days. Their confidence is VERY high that they are going to make it a good game and will keep the score close.

Insiders say that they've never seen it quite like this going into a first game. Quote "It's like a quiet resolution that each player has that they're going to put out 100% and win this thing. I"ve never seen it like this before. It's reasuring and exciting at the same time."

I guess we'll see. I thought everyone would be interested on how the players are feeling.
