Stop twisting the facts Majorie | 1:59 a.m. Sept. 1, 2009
Majorie,

"Yet, a couple of campus police officers who encountered Phillip Garrido some 30 miles from his Antioch, Calif., home managed to connect the dots within a couple of meetings with him. Phillip Garrido told officers that he had come to the campus to ask permission to conduct a religious event. He appeared "disturbed," officer Jacobs said."

They didn't connect any dots even though they are now trying to make it seem like they had some gut instinct that allowed them to figure out there was something wrong. They had no idea the girls were in any trouble and allowed him to leave and to return again without ever helping the girls.

Once they did a routine background check on someone who was eccentric they found out he was on parole and contacted his parole officer to inform them that an ex-felon wanted to hold an event and that he had two children with him. They still did not connect any dots and the interviews with them make it clear that they were making things up as they went along.

It was the parole officer finding out that he was with 2 children that resulted in his apprehension

Just what exactly are "gut feelings"? The only feelings I've had in my gut have been indigestion or a feeling of being empty, full or overfull.

If you're referring to intuition, which is not centred in the gut, that's different. Still you have to be sure you're not just following prejudice, fear, anger or overmuch zeal.

The brain is better, imo, than the gut, in making decisions, though intuition can be invaluable to those who know how to recognize it.

And MY gut feeling is that Prsident Obama is both better than the alternative, and better than what we were stuck with in the administration prior to him. End of story.

According to other AP stories, Garrido's wife was a high school sweetheart. This story reports that she met him after his rape conviction. There are some inconsistencies that should be expected I suppose when a man has managed to hide so much for so long.

I think Marjorie Cortez has it partly right here, but here's what Marjorie Cortez left out. A great point to be made here Marjorie Cortez left out is that each and everyone of us should know, just one word, it's called "spinoff". Here's the true example of what I am talking about here, "a man accused of abducting and sexually abusing Jaycee Lee Dugard testified during a previous kidnapping and rape case that he prowled through residential neighborhoods as a Peeping Tom and had strong rape desires." In the kidnapping trial from more than three decades ago, Garrido admitted to abducting and raping the woman he was accused of kidnapping, saying: "I have had this fantasy, and this sexual thing that has overcome me." Drug's also played a part in this to. When prophets and apostles teach and testify to the World member's, and strongly urge you to not look at porn and also do drug's, why do they do this?. They know about this word "spinoff." That'll cause stuff like this. To fine tune it more for you, prophets and apostles are hardly ever wrong. Their wisdom ya'll need.

Bottom Line: because of the two female police officers this case is now solved. Without their intervention, how much longer would the monster have held on to his hostages?
And what about the so-called 'police' (ahem) 'work' up until this point? Very slipshod, in the extreme. NO investigation of his property other than to stand on the front porch of a convicted and registered sex offender???
Marjorie is absolutely right on!

I believe there is research which shows that sometimes "gut" instincts are better at guiding decisions than "logical" brains. I say, pay attention to your gut, but also use your brain.
