This is an unpleasant event. Antelope Island is supposed to be a pristine wilderness area, not a balloon filled carnival of neon-colored fabric floating in the air.
Have you been to Antelope Island? Seriously? I live near it, and I don't see how balloons or kites are going to hurt the asethetic aspects of the island. In all honesty, the money raised to get people on to the island will do more good for the island than having a "carnival of neon-colored fabric floating in THE AIR".. Thats right.. even you said it THE AIR!
Have they ever even got a balloon off the ground at there antelope island balloon festival?? I have went two years in a row and both of them got canceled. In my opinion it is way too windy out there for a balloon festival
