"Competency?" He was sharp-enough to hide, create disguises and run-from-the law. This type of legal-overkill hurts our system and kills the trust / confidence we should have in our lawyers, courts and judges....the only thing accomplished is wasted tax dollars and larger checks for those involved.....

"Competency....?" He was bright enough to try and hide and disguise himself and the others....why do we spend so much time and $$$ on this charade? Gives lawyers and our legal system a bad name and sure kills our own "confidence" i

Mitchell is nothing but a big fat FAKER! When will the judges & the lawyers realize this? He knew exactly what he was doing when he kidnapped Elizabeth Smart. The fact that he spent months planning the kidnapping & preparing a hideout, hid her, tied her to a tree to keep her from running, disguised her when in public, left town with her to avoid a shoplifting charge, lied to a judge in California after getting busted for breaking into a preschool, used fake names, called Elizabeth his daughter when anyone asked, & lied to the cops who busted him, all shows he knew what he was doing & that he knew that what he was doing was wrong. Why is it so hard to figure out that he's playing the system? Those of us with working brains figured this out years ago.

Great comment Lacee!!! I agree with you. His actions during the whole ordeal shows that he has his wits about him. He knew exactly what he was doing the whole time. All of this so called craziness is all a big act, so he will not have to pay for what he has done.

I agree, when he bursts out in song, he is totally working the system. What is wrong with the system?

Ken Goddard

I'd like to ask him if she was a runaway or did he kidnap her. The answer might be surprising.

Well

at least he is getting Free Health and Dental care in the system......GEEEEEZZZZZZ!!!

Anonymous

Yes he kidnapped her...good grief.

Lacee

Ken, there was a witness to the kidnapping. Also, the SLPD said back in 2003 that they found evidence to support the fact that she was held against her will. Anyone who looks at the evidence can see that she was kidnapped. Stop reading the tabloids.

We already know the drill. The hearing starts and somewhere in the middle of it, Mitchell starts his phony act of singing hymns. He gets led out of court and the hearing is rescheduled for a future date and on and on this goes.

Fed's

I hope the Fed's do a better job at bringing justice for Elizabeth then the State Of Utah! We should have a competency hearing for all the people involved in allowing the charade of Mitchell's to go on for 6 YEARS! Where is the justice UTAH?!
