I am a staunch repub. Vote all the bums out! Let's clean house.
Bennett promised not to seek a third term when he ran for office the first time. Let's let him keep his word. The best way we can control the crazies in congress is through term limitations. That would cut the power of the lobbiest and restrict the power of many congressmen. They'd be more likely to do a proper job if they knew their terms were limited. They'd never vote term limits for themselves, so perhaps there is a way to get a national referendum on the subject.
Time for Bennett to be retired....by the voters. I am a conservative republican.
His faith the LDS church doesn't make him any better than anyone else, believers in Jesus should know this. For all you that think he should "clean house", who's he gonna replace them with, people of the LDS faith? I was talking to some missionaries about a week ago about the history of the Book of Mormon. Where was Bountiful and not in the state of Utah. They told me that J. Smith was a child and thus couldn't have wrote the book without "divine intervention", not the exact words, but that was what I felt in my heart. I know by reading the bible that only a fool trusts his heart. Those that achieve power are afraid to lose it. Bennett will never let his power that he has achieved go away, just ask Sen. Hatch. As for faith, people believe in much more foolish beliefs. That is what makes this country so great, you can believe the world is the center of the universe, and that their is somekind of power struggle between good and evil. Sometimes the truth is right in front of your face.
@George: I am a conservative Republican, and I will be voting for Bennett. Looks like I just cancelled your vote.
Let's see is this part of a public relaions offensve?
I haven't heard much from Senator Bennett until the primary election is approaching.
He has written a book defending my faith.
It is published by the Deseret Book Press.
Nice article by Davidson in the Deseret News.
Is this an beginnings of an endorsement by the Deseret News?
Is this a solicittion of my vote because he is a defender of my faith and I am an active LDS or should I look at other candidates because I believe that Senvuator Bennett takes his position for granted?
I honestly have not decided who to vote for but I find the timing of the book and article a little slick to be coincidental.
The test regarding the authenticity Book of Mormon that I like is the test offered by Jesus himself. "By their fruits ye shall know them." What kind of lifestyle & characteristics predominate in those who accept the Book of Mormon and follow its teachings? I know that it has made me a better person.
Its obvious Bennett is a forgery.
We need to replace him with the real deal

Just a chance for the partisans to display their comments against or for Bennett.
Oh, well, maybe that's less tiring than giving the partisans a chance to comment again and again, on what they like or don't like about Utah or Latter-day Saints.
Somewhere along the way the Church in Utah became a wholly owned subsidiary of the right wing of the Republican Party. Under these circumstances I can understand why Bennett wrote his book. I yearn for the old days when being an active Church member and having a arch conservative political view weren't seen to be one and the same thing. Little wonder members to the left of Sean Hannity (normal, moderate Americans) feel less and less comfortable at Chruch and one as unquestionably conservative as Bennett feels he must justify himself. That's how whacked out things have become.
I wont be voting for him. I truly hope he does not win re-election. I agree, get him out. It is time to clean house!
Senator Bennett is an outstanding individual and I would gladly read his book just to get more insight into his belief.
I for one have derived great insight and enjoyment from my 25+ readings of the Book of Mormon. I love the book and encourage all to read it with an open mind and heart. After 25+ times, I still learn much that is new with each new reading. I have just begun again and am looking forward to another great experience.
God gives us scriptures to feed and edify our very souls. Reading them all keeps one pretty busy and eliminates time for undesirable activities. I love it.
My son in law worked for Hughes Aircraft in California. Employees of the company seemed to have a reverent opinion of Mr. Hughes. I notice some people love to bash the LDS Church on any subject.
I am so tired of politicians that stay in past two terms. They turn to slime. Besides Bennett was running around helping with the bale-out funds. He needs to go. We need someone that will stand for positive principles.
When I read the headline, I thought "How did Bennett get in the Book Of Mormon?" Quite often headlines are phrase wrong.
I am a Republican and I will vote for him. If anything, his tenure gives him much more power to go to the Federal government and fight for what Utah needs. A new senator has nothing and has to start from scratch.
Bennett's assertion that the book was not timed with the election in mind is simply beyond credulity.
I am voting for Bennett, he looks out for Utah.
If you knew anything about publishing a book, you'd know he didn't have much to do with the timing. It takes many months and sometimes a year or more to get a book ready to be published AFTER it has been submitted to the publisher. If he'd chosen the time, it would have been a few months ago, so more people would have had time to read his book before the election. Also, Hank is right - tenure is very important for a senator to be able to help his own state. I haven't decided who I'll vote for, but this will be a definite factor in my decision.
We are fortunate to have a public servant devoted to his God and religion, regardless of what religion it is. I intend to read his new book AND vote for him. What is it with all of us? It's like we're on a constant witch hunt against our Congressional delegation. Cut him some slack already.
