just want to let the kids and the coaches know how proud I am to see them succeeding. Great job kids, all of you. What a way to lead into homecoming week.

Clearly this is an example of a group of young men winning in spite of their classless head coach. They ought to just fire him and they'd probably keep right on winning.

This game was a great example of what happens when a team running the option offense runs up against a team with a more creative and balanced offense. The option offense gives a team zero chance of coming back after it gets down by a few TDs.

Ogden High has too many grudge matches to win, (even 1A teams own them) I say perhaps the band needs to take a backseat to the football team, when the Fball team is showing this kind of determination-but then who ever expected Band to be reasonable? If I were in charge, the band teacher would be relocating this year!

Judge is a good teaml and, likely, came into the game overconfident. Good lesson to be learned. Now Ogden will have a target on their backs.

coach e is the reason why these guys are winning. he came in and established a good football program. without his system in place i doubt they would have ever beaten a judge team 47 to 21.

I don't think anyone is saying Ogden High is going to win a State Championship or even a Region Championship. We're just enjoying the success we're having right now. The truth of the matter is that just two years ago the roles were reversed when we played Judge.

No doubt you can win with the option, and many teams have been very successful with it. Judge will win plenty of games with it this season. My point is that there will be times when you run up against a wide open offense like Ogden runs and if they have the athletes to make it work (Ogden did) and if they jump out to an early lead and then score on every possession like Ogden did, it really is nearly impossible to catch them with an option offense (or any other run-based offense). Doesn't mean you can't win plenty of games with the option, even against teams that run a wide open offense. I don't think many teams are going to be able to execute the spread as well as Ogden did last night. Last night was kind of the perfect storm - early lead, score by Ogden on every subsequent possession. Doesn't mean that the option is a bad offense, just can't expect it to be a come from behind offense when a team is scoring as early and regularly as Ogden did last night.

Hey Ogden! Congratulations on a great win! You deserve it! Keep up the hard work! It will get you far - even if you don't win another game. But you will!

You CAN come back and win when you are down by a couple of touch downs with the option. I have seen it plenty of times. Just ask the HIghland Rams how many times they've been down and you think the game is more than over. But they've come back and won the game in the last couple of minutes. Examples: Highland vs. Box Elder 2006 State Semi-Finals; 2007 again West High, 2008 again Skyline Eagles, and I'm sure there are others. They have at least one or two of those games a year. My kids play there and it just keeps happening. They make for huge scares, but some of the most fun games I've ever been to.

A pass first offense is better than a run first offense doesn't know much about football. Ogden runs the spread which is a new fad, but consider the true purpose of the spread is to run and then pass. What it is supposed to do is eliminate the number of defenders that are inside the box, if you don't cover the wide outs then you pass until the other team starts covering the wideouts. This way your opponant has to play 4-5 players in coverage which leaves 6 or less in the box which is perfect for the run game! Any team should be able to run on a 6 man front if they have good technique and coaching.
