He was an excellent choice!
People try to put a moderate conservative label on Bell (well, people other than Gail Ruzicka and Paul Mero who never met a right-of-the-far-right that they didn't fawn over). However, Bell defies labels. Conservative? Sure, in principles and practice. But Bell is perhaps the state's master of finding middle ground without surrendering principle. He also lives his personal life and conduct his campaigns, including consideration of gifts and contributions, according to solid principles. Greg Bell is always kind and is a man of compassion.
This choice alone shows that Gary Herbert is a lot smarter than many give him credit for. I think that Utah is in for a good ride with this team.
Aren't these special sessions to confirm Bell a gross waste of tax dollars? As the legislature ponders millions of dollars in tax increases, it seems unbelievable that they would continue to waste money on special sessions!
Great choice. The Special Sessions Waste of Money person needs to get a real life, and lets get on with the business of running state goverment. it is not a waste of money. I've met Lt Gov Bell and he has a great family and a good family man. I* got to met his father a few times before he passed away and his mother is a great lady. Utah needs a balance and I beleive he will bring that to the GOP for the next year until the 2010 elecetion.
Great. Now we have TWO real estate developers in charge. Gentlemen, start your bulldozers!
Bulldozers aren't really as affective as track hoes, or backhoes when it comes to building homes. Bulldozers are used at mines, and maybe roadways, or maybe the dump. They're all great machines too that save us all a lot o' sweat and I'm grateful for hydraulics. What's your alternative?
Olene Walker's Lt. Governor was NEVER confirmed by the Senate! There were no expensive special sessions for the confirmation process. The legislature changed the laws AFTER Olene Walker picked someone I guess the legislature didn't like.
Greg Bell has been an excellent state senator and he will be a fine lieutenant governor.
