Edward Fraughton is a state treasure. I have seen many of his sculptures over the years and if he isn't a master sculptor I don't know who is. I realize that master is not a term to just throw around but from my lofty armchair that's the way I see him. Unfortunately, he isn't well known by the general population. Not to be snooty, but we seem to be stuck in admiring mediocre work and so his name is not well known.

Take some time to look at this great artist's work-- you will come to see that truly he is a state treasure.

have even more right to uncover those mormon artifacts over there than the pioneers do over here!
Ed's just Great | 4:11 p.m. Aug. 27, 2009
It is breathtaking artwork on such a classic scale. Ed is not only a gifted artist, he is also an easy going gentleman, inventor and talented tradesman. Ed skills are those of a master blacksmith, fabricator, wrench turner and machinist. Artwork on this scale can be by persons of all walks of life from mechanic to sculptor. Kudo's to our state treasure, Ed Fraughton.

My father is one of the artist's that helped Ed with this. Ed is a great artist, but so is my dad. True masters, both of them.

Live in Omaha and love the installation downtown. The bison running through the wall and geese morphing between types of metal are favorites. Did he also produce the 'sundial' piece at the bank's building at 144th & Dodge Street?

I have enjoyed the work of Ed Fraughton over the years where ever I see it. All the great bronze makers look to Ed as one of the true 'greats' of modern sculpture. Collectors 'in the know' have his works in their private collections. His "Taste of Honey" and Windriver" pieces are not to be missed. I look forward to one day seeing these large monuments first hand as I am sure they will be works of sheer genius wrought by a true 'Master of the Art." Thanks you Mr Fraughton for your efforts in this endeavor and throughout your lifetime of creating great art.

Fraughton's pioneer sculpture will be sent to Omaha, Neb., to join the first phase that was installed in 2005.
