What a great idea! I lost my office assistant job four months ago and haven't had any luck finding something new. Will definitely give this Layoff Lounge a try. Kudos to this gentleman for thinking of somebody besides himself!

I'm surprised that nobody thought of this sooner. Sure beats sitting around and staring at the walls, wondering how you're going to pay the bills.

I'll definitely check out the Layoff Lounge - I've been unemployed for over 15 months and have applied for job after job. It really starts to wear you down even though I'm willing to start over at an entry level position with lower pay but still haven't turned anything up. What makes it even harder is that for every job applied has over 100 applicants, so what can I say or do to make the grade? I've had a few interviews but keep coming 2nd and my unemployment runs out soon. The prospect of doing a service project sounds good to me because not only will it help someone else but it will get my mind off of the current dismal circumstances.
