I think that's great that the replicated a "game week" in practice this week. Then next week the new guys will be more familiar with what practice is going to be like. They should even watch some film on Monday (?) like they regularly do. Go Utes, can't wait!!
Unless they're purposefully having Cain take reps during the half hour where they let the media watch, it looks like Cain is the guy.
I don't understand the point of the secrecy. It's Utah State, for pete's sake.
I can't wait for my Aggies to shock the world this next week! I'll root for the Utes and other state of utah schools, but I hope we show up and make a statement next week! No matter what happens, I am thrilled with the progress our program is making. Go Aggies!
way to get us pumped up for the ute season with a beautiful picture of a real salt lake game. job well done
The Ute's have so much depth at O line they will not skip a beat where as lesser teams will go down in flames after they lose a couple of linemen.
Dallas Aggie, I am hoping for a shocker from the Aggies as well, only not until October 2nd.
I will pull for the Aggies all year long, but not next week. Go Utes!
What we wouldn't give to see the former coach hand it to the current coach. . . with no QB at all, I bet Gary is licking his chops. . .
DJ & PK
I can't wait for the Aggies to be shocked about how really bad they are when the Utes destroy them.
It's so comical to see all you Utah and Utah State fans getting excited about your game on Thursday. Your game is comparable to a scrimmage with no one really being tested because of the Aggie competition. The real competitive game to watch is going to be the BYU Oklahoma game. BYU will kick butt and come out on top by an approximate score of 34 to 24. So, skip the kids game and watch the real men play next Saturday.
I'm a Ute fan and will be there a week from today to watch the game, and I'm nervous that the Utes will take this game lightly and overlook this team. With the former D cordinator running the show, the Aggies will likely know what Utah is going to do on both sides of the ball, which makes me a little nervous. With that said, better athletes usually wins out and Utah most definitely has the better athletes. I'm hoping for a drubbing of USU, just to show the old coach what he left behind.
Would all 9 of you in the Aggie Nation please get real about who is going to win this game?
The Utes are going to go 5-7 this year. They won't make a bowl game. They are over hyped and over rated. I can't stand hearing about how Utah is going to be contending for a title. With a brand new quarterback and a mediocre offense to begin with? Right...
I think the Aggies have "good chance" - take that to mean what you will.
Realistic prognosis:
There will be no 50 - 10 (or so) thumping. There will be no disgusting amount of turnovers from the Aggies to hand the Utes a victory.
The lines on O and D will be won by the stronger Ute players, but the Aggies will put up a good showing and lose by 14 or less.
I'm still hopeful my Aggies pull off the upset.
Optimistic prognosis:
Aggies cram the line with extra guys to keep Asiata in line, trusting the new QB can't hit the WR's often enough to advance the ball, and the Aggie CB's actually do a decent job of pass protection.
Peter Caldwell hits a few FGs in the red zone because the Aggies can't push it through.
Turbin and Borel break through pockets to score one or two touchdowns, and the Aggies take it 20-14.
You don't know 's'. You should stay in your comfort zone and "rise and shout" when the Cougars are out and growl like a cougar when ever they make a touchdown or field goal. Or, you can keep repeating "That's another.....Cougar....first down - if they ever make a first down against the Sooners.
Utes better take this game serious... Gary and Baldwin will have their offense ready with some trick plays and tons of QB options to go to. The defense will have a new attitude this year with more talent and speed then ever before. I look for a close game and upset. Gary will be gunning to show his mentor what young "Grasshopper" has learned.
You said for everyone to "skip the kids game and watch the real men on Saturday." So, kind of like what happened during last year's bowl games. BYU played a "kids" game in the LV Bowl and Utah played the men's game in the Sugar Bowl. Come to think of it, your comment sums up every post season for the Cougs. Nice point, BYU fan!
So you think Gary and Baldwin are going to turn tricks on the Ute players? They can only hope.
I find the comments from the fans of team down south comments in this section especially sad and delusional which = hilarious. The tds stands zero chance against Oklahoma, none, book it. Tds fans will become real familiar with Gerald McCoy and the rest of the Sooner D-line that will be in the tds backfield more than poor, poor, Max Hall. I will be watching the slaughter in Arlington with a chilled adult beverage, and in the stands for the battle of the brothers. I'm not by any means a Sooner fan. Just a fan of whoever is playing the tds.
for the first quarter and then it's 'lights out'. No way they'll run on the Utes linebackers. Borel will have to throw it 40 to 50 times and eventually get picked enough to make the final score a laugher. The Utes will not put their QB into any high risk situations and will keep the playbook closed for the first two games to keep the good stuff off the game films. They'll run all over the aggots and not throw much, win comfortably.
