More weapons for the Utes..

With all the recievers and talent on both sides of the ball, the Utes should do well. Whether they live up to last year depends upon the smarts of the new quarterback. The talent is there, but so much depends on the intangibles. We'll know a lot after Sept. 3rd. Utah State doesn't worry me, but Gary Andersen does.

Rest easy, Gary Anderson will not be playing...and I doubt that he has with only one recruiting class the opportunity to get athletes and speed into the USU program. This will truly be a big brother vs little brother meeting with the results very much the same as the previous decade. Anderson will need more time.

Age

Peel is the oldest Ute at 23. If he were at BYU, he'd be one of the youngest.

Moabute

Gary Anderson has the ability and potential to be a great coach. Just not at Utah State. The Aggies have fallen so far behind other D-1 programs and have so much working against them, that I doubt they will ever be a force in football. Unless they drop to D-2 status.

Like Godfrey?

Hope he is ready to get lit up catching passes across the middle because, man, Godfrey took some blasts! Peel, just hold on to the ball, get up, and pretend like it didn't hurt! There's nothing that frustrates a safety more than to know they've delivered a bomb to a receiver, and it didn't seem to phase them.

Gary A.

Boise St aside, the WAC is so horrible that Gary A can take 2nd every year. Fresno isn't very good, they never beat the good teams on their schedule.
Within two or three years the Aggies will beat byu and bsu.

Meyer

So the Meyer recruits didn't end last year, huh? Oh, I'm sure it will be a great year then. I know the underclass of recruits has been super stellar...

Contribute?

What is he going to do, recover the fumbles that the great QB is going to drop? Or try and tackle the DB's returning one of the INT's for a touchdown?

DJ

Rerun?

I remember a very similar article before last year's football season. I consider myself to be a pretty die-hard Ute fan and I'd never heard of this guy before that article. They pumped him up so much last year that I thought he'd be a good peice to last year's puzzle. However, I never saw him.

I chalk this article up to no news from the Ute camp but the DesNews still needing to publish something. I don't think this guy is going to play a pivitol role with all the other receivers on tap to have a great season (Reed, Key, Christopher, etc). Its a nice feel good story, and I hope I'm wrong, but I just am not going to get fooled by the DesNews for 2 straight years that this guy is going to be a major contributor.

So the player who didn't have the talent to get any Playing Time in the last 6 years is now #1, or #2 wide out for Utah. Sounds like a great year ahead of you utes... Sike!

Utah Gal

6 years at the U! That sounds like me but I didn't play football, this guy should have his Master's degree by now.

Ernest T. Bass

An injury prone guy who has caught a grand total of one pass is going to be a top starting receiver? Was the inside source for this story the Easter Bunny?

He likely won't....

contribute much. Do guys like this (always injured) ever do anything more than possibly being a roll player? I know his all cut up, but just saying.

Degree Bound?

I find it very interesting that this article makes absolutely no mention of what Peel's done in school all these years. I'm all for giving him another year if he's pursuing a graduate degree. He should have completed a double major by now. If he's just sticking around to play football and taking useless classes, let him go out find a job and make room for student-athletes that need a scholarship.

Really?

It doesn't seem that difficult to understand, but judging by some of these comments I'm beginning to wonder if anybody can read?

The article clearly states that Peel could be the #1 or #2 WR AT ONE POSITION.

Utah has 4 starting WR positions. If you understood anything you would know that David Reed, Jereme Brooks and Aiona Key have 3 of the 4 starting slots. The position in question is the Godfrey spot inside. Peel and Luke Matthews will likely be the starter and backup, with Key being able to move over at times. Peel is likely the 5th/6th WR on the depth chart, especially with the emergence of Christopher in camp.

Come on guys, actually read the article and try to comprehend before you spout off and sound ridiculous.

Ben White

Hmmmmmmmmm inury prone past and he is going to be Bradon Godfrey's replacement possibly? Yeah, I dont know how much time he is going to get, just by default.

This is a feel-good story. He will be great on special teams, but thats probably about it. I look for him to make 10-15 total catches this year.

GO UTES!

Ute Alum

Give him another year. Even at 24 next year, he will be 5 years younger than the average age of the BYU players!
LOL

RE: Contribute

poor poor attempt at trash talk. you just embarrassed yourself with that comment. And thank you "REALLY" for clarifying the article to those idiot zoobs who were trying to downplay how our program just reloads with talent.

Shouldn't you be worried about the fact that Utah's secondary caught more receptions from Max hall then your top two receivers last year:

BYUs top 2 recivers this year caught 3 passes for 91 yards last year from Max Hall.

While Utah secondary had 5 receptions for 77 yards.

Sounds like a great year ahead of you Zoobs... Sike!!! After all we all know how great your defense is (6 teams scored 30+ on the Zoobs).

Oops!

Hey Mr. "Sike!!" You seemed to miss the point. Peel was out with serious injuries for 3.5 years of the 5 he has been here. This is the start of his 6th year and he did get alot of playing time last year, including about a dozen plays at wideout in last years Sugar Bowl. You know, the Sugar Bowl, a BCS bowl game teams get to go to when they win out!!!!!
