"Temples never mentioned as part of the afterlife?"

(Rev.21:22)" I did not see a temple*(naon) in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple*(naos). (Ephesians 2:21,22) "In him the the whole building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple*(naon)in the Lord And in him you are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives by Spirt.

If Temples weren't important, then why were the House of Israel commanded to build them in the Old Testament and why did the Lord kick out the money changers. Temples are important, without them families could not be together forever

To have people stuck believing that you're doomed if you don't accept Christ before you die would be a far greater cost than any money on Earth.

I liked the article (usually do). I will spend the next week--probably months and years--contemplating what I consider to be "my true self". Thanks for the thoughts.
As usual, I am surprised by the minutia people get stuck on.

Jim,

Temples in ancient Israel were essentially slaughterhouses. Because of the legacy of the pagan pastoral beliefs and the acts of animal (and human) sacrifice among most ancient peoples, there had to be a place for all that blood-letting to happen. Jesus was only one of many reformists among Jewish Rabbis who sought to bring an end to blood-sacrifice. With the end of blood-sacrifice comes an end to the need for a place (temples) to carry out the ceremonies. That is why Judaism today does not build temples: the rabbinical tradition from around 70 ACE to now has systematically rejected it and moved to a more personal religion. And that is why Christianity moved away from temples and sacrifice (Paul's letters are evidence of wrestling against the continuation of the blood-letting rituals: circumcision, Passover, and temples where all these took place).

I hope that helps.
