Don't be scared, Doug. Everything will be alright.

People are choosing the elife because they don't have time to interact as humans anymore. Always in too big a hurray to go someplace only to hurry to another place never even saying hi or good-by to a living soul. It's a society of deaf mutes with no voice or hearing senses or literary talents. Life, even in the home, has become synthesized and fake with no emotions or thoughts of ones daily life.

Technology has its use, but you can't replace being a human with it. If I want to talk to someone, I face them and make it a meaningful conversation. The elife is one of emotionally disturbed people who fear each other and are not able to converse. They all use the same device to communicate but are determined not to talk to them on a phone that is right in their hands.

This article touches on a very grave problem for society. All of the eActivities mentioned are not bad if done in moderation. As humans self-control is not one of our strong points.

Years from now we will be paying the price for our lack of people skills. I'm looking to hire employees for my business and finding people with good personal communication is getting harder.

Thanks to my wife's concern for our two small boys, they get 1 hour of parent-selected DVDs from the library or PBS each day. The rest of the time they are playing outside, reading, or playing with their toys.

Doug-I wish I could tell you this in person, but....Amen, Amen and Amen!

For kids raised on TV and computer screens, life is so REAL. Last week I took my grandkids for a walk in a creek. Pretty simple.

They were thrilled. It was better than TV!

Someday I hope to even enlarge their shrunken attention spans with more real world experiences.

I think Benson forgot mention peoplr who spend so much time posting comments online to newpaper stories,

comments NO ONE cares about or reads but other posters.

Although I was quoted in this article - I would like to clarify - Yes, technology is evolving at a rapid pace - however, the ways new media have opened doors and relationships for people requires us to really evolve the way we think about relationships. Antiquated ideas that propogate the destruction of arts/music/science and face-to-face conversation may need to be revisited and looked at in new ways. I was the "someone" who said that even if people don't play musical instruments in the same way (which I am still looking for research on) - there are different ways for music to be created and made to be meaningful for the individual and larger communities.

People find community through online interaction - and who are we to tell someone that their community doesn't count?

I think "An Observer" isn't very observant. Robinson wrote the story, not Benson, and some people do care about others comments
