It is outrageous that the Deseret News would censor my previous comment about this violent incident. It cannot be denied that this incident was a video game related crime, which is only one among many. There was a time in this Country when a newspaper would not have censored a comment that pointed out one of the modern dangers of society. Apparently, that time has passed.
This criminal episode is yet further evidence that the playing of violent video games leads to violent action on the part of those who play them. Society must realize that until violence is eliminated from these so-called forms of entertainment, violent acts such as this kidnapping will continue.
It's a hasty generalization to believe that the person involved played violent video games. Nothing in the article says that he does. So, blaming games for his behavior does not follow any sensible logic.
John - Wow! Never let the any actual facts get in the way of someone's completely off based comments. Jumping to conclusions about video games is old news. Didn't Jack Thompson get himself disbarred because of all his baseless suits over this very thing?
There was also a time when people actually took the time to use facts as a basis for their arguments. But I guess that for you it's not necessary simply because it "makes sense" to you in your own mind.
I wish more people like you used your energy to take on issues that are based in at least SOME type of fact rather than polluting the net with more conjecture and supposition on something they no nothing about.
...the victim knew he was in trouble when Jose started driving the car using a controller rather than a steering wheel.
This guy's buyer satisfaction score is gonna go WAY down.
Caveat emptor, my foot. I'm getting my money's worth one way or another.
If I were the victim, I could have threatened him to gimme my money back, unless it wouldn't work.
Only $5,000 bail for kidnapping????
