Nice, but the pedophile just removes it quickly and tosses it aside.

AyreWolf

Too bad this was not available in Boise. That kid is still missing, thought is his mother swiped him and fled overseas, how would this GPS thing helped the authorities track him down. We need to arrest and shoot these people, not warehouse them. Then this stuff wouldn't be a problem since a firing squad would make a great deterent.

Re: Jim

Agreed. What's to stop a kidnapper from pulling this off a kid's belt loop and tossing it aside? I think it's a great idea, but it's strengths are easily overcome if the device isn't actually with the child.

Digbads

This actually looks like a great idea for tracking some adults with special needs too.

Mike

The article pointed out that most missing kids aren't abducted (e.g., the kid gets lost at the amusement park). This device helps you find them quickly in that case.

WHAT???

It alerts parents if the heat inside a parked car is too great?

Isn't it still illegal to leave your children in a parked car?

Nice idea. Wouldn't help in all situations..

Nice ad, DesNews

You left out everything but the "call within 10 minutes to get another one for free" infomercial spiel!

uncannygunman

"A small microphone also allows parents to call in and listen to what is going on in the area." Nice. When your parent is your Big Brother, is it incest?

Very old technology and far too expensive. Rather go with My9000 from My-911, works world wide, has emergency dispatch, Search and Rescue, has complete online portal, voice, alerts parents and/or dear ones, the list goes on and on.

Better Answer

Go with the sentryGPSid for $185 instead. Forget Amber Alert GPS and the aforementioned My9000 from My-911 who also wants to overcharge. Why would any parent want to pay almost twice as much? Plus, the fact the Amber Alert GPS was "promised" to come out "next month" for over a year tells me they don't have the infrastructure or financial stability to support the device and service. So you are probably going to be stuck with an overpriced device and no way to use it...
