An old facicical saying says that when you have 2 quarterbacks you have none. Getting louks out of the piture was necessary for us to move forward but i really think the battle needs to be over asap! USU could be more surprising than we think and we need to have our O gelling in time.
go utes!
Facicical? Piture? Ute grad or current Ute athlete?
I don't understand why this decision is so hard... If they really are neck and neck then why would you not go with the younger kid who is going to give you four years of continuity and let the one that's only gonna be there for two years back him up. Seems like a no brainer to me. If you have two equal quarterbacks, go with the upside!
All I know is that this decision needs to be made and FAST! Isn't this what destroyed Michigan last year?
Another judgemental Kittie posting on a Ute page. We accept all kinds here at the U, not just perfectly literate fans.
Jordan Wynn will be named as the starter. Cain will be his back-up. I know this from watching both Wynn and Cain in several practices. I also know this from talking to several key staff members.
Everyone is going to very suprised at how good and mature Jordan Wynn is when they watch him play for the first time. This kid is the REAL deal and it gives me great confidence in the next 4 years!
Perhaps Whittingham isn't necessarily deciding who's the better qb but rather which of the two styles that the two candidates posses will fit into this years team and the identity of the offense. Thats what has been odd to me is that two guys with completely different games are going neck and neck for the job.
I personally would like to see Cain start, this could give Jordan Wynn 2 years to learn the offense, while being able to redshirt one year. This could give us 3 solid years from Wynn, with 2 years under his belt. Cain has shown to handle the offense better and has had less mistakes and turnovers throughout camp and scrimmages. With our defense being as strong as it is we need a 'manager' at qb this year and I see that in Cain more than Wynn.
Wynn may be the better qb out of the two but we have to remember that he is a true freshman and although Cain hasn't played a game in Division 1, he still was the Offensive Player of the Year in JuCo last year.... I don't see the Utes bringing in Cain just to sit him.
should be moved to offense. the 1/8 backs seem to like him better.
Perhaps we can get Louks back. He has some game experience.
should get a shot. His brother was a qb.
the Ags get ready. Wit is so smart. He can change qb's all year and no one will know who to prep for. How witty!
To hhmmm,
I'm not sure what practices you were at, but Jordan Wynn is heads and shoulders above Cain in terms of "handling the ball better". From what I have seen the only real advantage to Cain over Wynn is that Cain is a better scrambler than Wynn. All other categories are dominated by Wynn.
Well as far as what I've seen and heard, Wynn has thrown more inters and has a tough time in the 2 min offense, I do agree that Cain is a far better scrambler, like I said, Wynn is prob the better qb but not this year
Official stats to date:
Interceptions Thrown
Jordan Wynn 5
Terrance Cain 11
As you can see, Cain has turned the ball over more than twice the rate of Jordan Wynn. Not very much upside to Cain in terms of interceptions.
I guess your insight is better than what I've seen and heard
I read that Michigan will be playing three QBs in their opening game.
So, does that make us worse or better? :)
But I must say when they first gave out the depth chart and Wynn was 1 and Cain was 2, I recall them saying Wynn getting 85 to 90 percent with the first team and its slowly become 50 50, so obvioiusly Coach can see something we can't, I trust in Whit and I still think Cain will start over Wynn..... either way
GO UTES!!!!!
Watching Talkin Sports at 11 pm tonight.... DJ is saying Terrance Cain has managed the offense better and Wynn has made more big plays BUT has also made more mistakes as well..... but I'm sure Crimson Club was at all the practices and seen everything so Channel 2 isn't a reliable source.....
Cain is a better qb for this team and has made less mistakes, watch Talkin sports, its on On Demand : )
and Louks had less picks than both of those guys..so what does that mean? 3rd string and outta here...Whit and Schramm said all along that this is all about eliminating turnovers and mistakes and getting the ball to playmakers...but the stats tell a different story if you add 'em up.
The real truth is you can't trust anything coming out of our coaches mouths...
Crimson Club- appreciate the practice updates...keep them coming...
Hey how is coach Whit's kid looking???? he is the latest walk on once Louks transferred....very interesting.
