Bingham coaches showed class by taking a knee when the game was no longer in doubt.
High expectations for competitive Viewmont team evaporated with 6 turnovers.
First game for Officiating Crew as well.
Frustrating to see pass interferance call overturned and stall Viewmont drive.
Never any good complaining about officials, but confirms the fact ..... "There are no sports in Heaven because all the Officials are going to Hell."

Good Luck Viewmont in Region 1 play.
Win Region - 2 home playoff games - and you're playing on the U of U turf in November.

Go Vikings !!!

Officials?

Really?! If you watched that play, an overturn was the only call that was correct. And, stall the 'drive'?! Anyways, Viewmont should compete well in Region 1, once they get familiar with coaching staff, schemes, and perhaps have a few more players able to spell the 6-8 going both ways. Stay away from the officials on this game, Anderson played that ball clean - no PI!

The Game was Sloppy

Once Viewmont made the interception and scored the first 8 points, it fired up Bingham. Both teams looked sloppy but it was evident that Bingham simply had the better athletes and were better coached. The officiating was not very good but the pass interference call of which someone above mentioned was correct to be overturned. Bingham simply had a better defense and defense wins games. Bingham's offense was not sharp. Two dropped passes that would have ended up in touch downs and the QB overthrew too other potential touch down. Viewmont's QB was pressured all night. Viewmont has a very good tight end. They will do well in 4A but werent' prepared to play a 5A powerhouse.

Anderson best in state?

Although I was looking into the sun for part of the game, your defensive back missed some tackles and looked like he missed some assignments. The worst part was his antics on the field, trying to show us up. Usually done facing our bench. Might be good athlete but not sure he is a leader in any aspect. Our coach's wouldn't let him act like that and that is for sure. Best DB in the state I would doubt.

Bingham got off to a slow start last night but picked up their game later on. Against Viewmont, they can do that. I fear that if they do it next week or down in Dallas, the results are not going to look quite so good.
One thing I noticed is that the Bingham sideline wasn't mentally involved in the game. EVERY player on the football field, star or backup, needs to pay attention to the game. Everyone on that sideline has a job to do and if they don't do it, the Miners may be in for a long, sad, disappointing season.
Get it together, Miners!

VHS Fan

Bingham clearly out coached Viewmont all night long. Their defense was in out backfield on almost every play. Above comments are right. Refs dont lose games, defense wins them. VHS defense was good most of the night but finally had to run out of gas and they did. You cant play that many kids both ways and have the D on the field all night long and expect a different result. VHS coaches need to get their O Line shored up and give #9 some time to hit his tight end and wide outs. That moves the chains and gives your D some time to breath.

I was thinking about film session this morning and have a couple of questions. Which of the Alta receivers can you afford to cover man on man, or do you just hope your front 5 can stop the Alta running game, including Brown who blew by CW kids all night?
I have all the respect in the world for the Bingham football program and all of the coaches, but I'm telling you what, Alta is for real and it's a man's game, which is why Bingham is the only team with a shot this year. Cottonwood was a good team with good atheletes and Alta dominated the game in every aspect. Can't wait for Friday!!!

offense

Did someone say 2 dropped balls? More like 5. The QBs looked pretty good. Kind of tough to hit a receiver that is 5'4 so ease up on the overthrow comments

trojan pride

wow bingam.great job on the win.i was expecting more of a beatdown.yall gotta come harder than that against trinity.trinity will show utah how the power run game clock managment and a stingy defense will do against your so-called "spread-offense".

Bingham D

Bingham D just got better. Looks like they will be having a different (and better)FS for the next 4-6 weeks. I saw it coming - should have found the wt room during the off season. Miners will win even without the "best" junior on the team. Go Miners!

Rob Thoreson

Did you see the score last night of the Riverton score last night we destroyed a tough 4A team in Lehi 44-0 We are looking forward to beating Bingham just as bad. We ware looking for

Re: Reb Thoreson

A win over lehi is nothing to brag about. they have a very crappy and undisciplined team. Wait until region starts to talk!

b man

Tough 4a team in Lehi?? are you serious. They didn't even make playoffs last year. Just wait Riverton

How

do you expect Viewmont to compete with anybody this year when you are splitting series with 2 QB's? There is no rhythm possible when you are yanked in and out.

I think Viewmont better pick one QB to lead the team and stick with him or Weber will blow us out as well!

This game of switching QB's in and out happens in both soph and JV as well. I thought with a new head coach this bad game tactic would end.....guess not!

Alta Fan

I expected a larger blow out. Viewmont must have done a pretty good job.
How did Langi do?
How many yds did he end up with?

RE: Bingham D | 11:52 a.m. Aug. 22, 2009....
That's as bad as a comment as I have ever read. A good young man possibly breaks his collerbone and some person finds that good. Bridger is a great kid and although had one blown coverage in the game, he was really asserting his power on takles and every other part of his game. Again...sounds like jealousy. We will miss him if it is truly broken. If we do need to replace him, the kid that was in there was looking very capable but I really hope a parent of this kid was not the one making that comment.

I've said it before and this will be the last time as people will be what they are. Let the kids play and do their job, let the coaches coach and do your job, then do your job as a fan, parent, or team mate and do not mess with team chemistry in a negative way. We got a great chance with this group and I do not want that hurt by jealousy and the ability of a weak person to be anonymous.

Typical VHS parents

My nephew plays for Viewmont and it's so funny reading this stuff. Comments already attacking Coach Lloyd. Man, at least the former got a few games before all the Viewmont jerks turned on him. It was pathetic to hear Viewmont parents in the stands screaming at their own coach and players. But then again, should anyone be surprised, Viewmont parents (not all but plenty of them) show no class, are rude, childish and are in need of a serious reality check. Get off Coach Lloyd's back and let him do his job.

Tommy Boy

Langi had 89 yards and was limping badly. Viewmont has some hitters and a great defensive scheme. Bingham was just too big for VHS to go both ways and they gassed a little. Good luck to both.

weak O

They can't beat Alta with plays anyone can predict. They tried to mix it up with passes, but the WRs can't catch. The QBs running was a good miix, but no title this year. Sorry

ALTAFAN

Well folks it's still the first game of the season. Look for all teams to improve. Bingham, Alta, Viewmont, everyone... I still see yet another state matchup with Bingham this year though. From these comments I don't know what to think though. I expect to see Bingham on the turf but Alta may threepeat (hopefully).
