This film sounds great. I am sure I will learn a lot from it. Probably about as much as reading a book on WWII. Thank you Mr. Tarantino for teaching me history in a way I can really relate to: foul language, gratuitous displays of violence and sexual content. I am in no way being sarcastic.
can't wait to see it!
Sarcastic or not, I'm pretty sure Tarantino is one filmmaker who is perfectly content to make films that don't teach you anything. That's something that should be pretty obvious by the end of the film (suffice it to say, he doesn't stick to any historical record and actually goes out of his way to deviate from it.) It's a "revenge fantasy" and nothing more. (And that's not to demean the film - it's also pretty dang entertaining, if you enjoy Tarantino's style as I do.)
Besides being really fun, it also very smart and it's a pity it doesn't get any recognition for it. I read a great review of it on Pandalous which made me notice some important themes in the movie.
The summer movie season is always full of top notch learning movies with deep plots and moving experiences,(rolling eyes). Go see G-Force, cartoonish violence may be more acceptable in this culture.
I'm not a big Tarantino fan, but I wanted to see this. It wasn't what I expected, but it is for sure a good flick. I'd recommend it, but be warned there is some gory parts.
Jeff. Love you. But every movie you review, you say it's to long. Got something better to do than watch movies? Love you still
"If a movie is a good movie, then it can never be too long". Roger Ebert
You should take his advice, Jeff.
I loved this movie! " after the war are you going to take that uniform off?" awesome!!! I laughed, I cringed, I cheered, everything one would want from a Tarantino movie! Bear jew is my hero!
I absolutely LOVED the film. I am going to see it again this week. I'm a big fan of The Bear Jew!
This was a great film. Brad Pitt is hilarious. Check him out when he's at the film in his white tux. His facial expressions are awesome. EXKOOZY
Jeff,
The respected film critic, Roger Ebert, once said, "No good movie is ever too long, and no bad movie is ever too short". Please stop saying ever movie is too long. If it is a good movie, being long is a good thing.
Peace out, homeboy.
Jeff, you are such a great reviewer. I didn't want to go see this movie, but got roped into it and loved it and I wish I still sat next to you so we could talk about it. YOU CAN NEVER RETIRE.
Amazing Movie!!! Freakin loved it!!! I loved it when Pitt was trying to speak in Italian!! "Graatzi". Ha HA !!!
