Not according to Locke, he thinks they're all average.
I didn't hear him say that. However, it certainly would explain why he moved to a middle of the pack team in a sub-par conference. You know, so he can throw passes to the top notch talent.
He's average and you are too.
Are you kidding me?!
Do you really believe that???!!
He also thought Utah would lose to Alabama in the Sugar Bowl.
this from the guy who had Gonzaga as his National Champion....the same guy who was adament that the conversation the Jazz brass had with Boozer "never happened" which later they admitted actually did...
Yeah I think I'll reserve judgement..What about you Locke?? What do you think? Oh that's right. Nobody cares
With no one to throw the ball to them what is the point of having 8 receivers? Better two have one QB.
In case you missed it, Coach Wittingham guided his team to a Sugar Bowl win over Alabama last season. He and his staff prepared his "under-matched" players to utilize their strengths to exploit the weaknesses of their opponent. Is he now incapable of preparing a freshman QB, bringing him along at the right pace, and compensating for that pace with the strengths of the other veteran players?
Witt has proved that he is a good judge of talent, and knows which players fit best into his system. Don't cash in your 3-game-bundle tickets; the sky is not falling, the Utes will field a good team this year.
This 8 man rotation (or even last years 5 man) is sure a sight for sore ybU fans who only saw 2 last year, in Collie and Pitta. did you see the glamour shots of them on the internet? hilarious.
I truly believe that one reason we had so much success last season was our ability to spread it to many receivers. There were games when 8 different players caught balls, and very few teams can do that. It is tough to prepare for and to play against.
It is amazing that there were no ego issues amongst the receiving corps. They all seemed truly happy to share the spotlight.
I went to there practice the other day. I saw 8 guys that looked just ok. Nothing to write home about!!!
Wow, thanks for the in-depth analysis and insight. Who are you and what reason do we have to think you are a good judge of talent? And what exactly did you see? Did you see them dropping balls, or running routes at half speed, or not finishing plays? What exactly did you see?

-----------
That was only in your head, that wasn't reality.
But then again you're a BYU scout, but seeing talent the down south I would take your talent analysis with a grain of salt.
I am sure that by the end of the season they will all be all pro like all the other ute receivers. Hope they will go to the Nfl next year.
I think I'll take your grammar with a grain of salt too.
So you went to the practice the other day? Wow! How did you get into the practice when it was a closed session? Do you have a cloak of invisibility? Is that some of the magic that Austin Collie was talking about?
Whoever wrote about the "8 guys that looked just ok." is either highly uneducated, or has not watched a practice. I was at a closed practice. I won't say more then I have promissed not to...but our recievers looked sharp and it was our best offensive production of the spring. Things will be good on "The Hill" this year.
I am excited to see these guys used in the true spread again. We have been recruiting guys for this but couldn't really use them as such the last few years because of the Johnson injuries. Sept 3rd is not soon enough!
Hey Practice guy want to tell us how you saw the practice when it is closed, because I used to work in college football. I'm Just want to know how so I can start going as well and be cool just like you. Grow up man!
The more I hear from Coach Whit the more impressed I am. First we have three QBs who are all so talented that it is hard to differntiate between them. They are all within a whisker of each other so we pick the youngest of the three and lose the most experienced to Reno. Now we have 8, count'em 8 receivers who are also all so good that there is very little difference beetween number 1 and number 8. I am beggining to think all we really have is a lot of mediocrity for this years Utes, heaven help us.
Your logic is sadly very flawed.
What if Cain and Wynn had been clearly worse than Louks? Louks would have been the starter from the get go, even though he clearly isn't a D1 QB. Would you have felt better under that scenario?
As for the WR's....would you prefer a situation like BYU had last year? Collie and Pitta, then nobody that Maxie would throw to? Did you believe Freddie Brown would catch 77 balls before last year? No, you didn't.
You are clearly a disgruntled Coug fan just trying to throw mud on the wall and hope something sticks, without thinking it through before hand.
