Take a look at teh QB situation at Nevada - current QB's freshmen and next year. Louks will be lucky to be the 4th best QB in Reno.
The picture of Wynn looks like a Norman Rockwell painting.
I thought for sure Louks would transfer to BYU. What happened???? You guys are talking to each other any more???
Both Cain and Wynn produced some pretty impressive numbers yesterday, but it should still be noted that most of Utah's star defensive players were held out. Their stats came by way of the 2nd team D. Still, I like how they've been progressing. We'll be ready for USU and SJSU. Hopefully, all the kinks in the Offense will have been worked out in time for Oregon. Either way, our Defense will be MONEY!
GO UTES!!!
It won't matter who quarterbacks the Utes this season because this is Max's year and the Cougars are going undefeated!!
in "dead heat" translation: Neither one is good enough to win the job.
Coach is smart to wait on this one. Both of these two recruits are new to the program. They are still learning the offense and the situation is fluid as knowledge grows and translates to performance on the field. Furthermore, with Schramm taking the offense from Ludwig, it'll make for a transition period while he tries to tweak the schemes for the skills of the QBs. I hope the coaches don't listen to the idiots on radio and on these boards and make a decision prematurely. Afterall it's not like Utah State is going to be a tough game. Take your time!
If its a dead heat then what was the point of releasing a depth chart? Just so you could loose a player?
One of these two QBs need to step up and take charge. We can't wait any longer for the leader to appear. As for the Maxie Hall comment, he will get CRUSHED by the Oklahoma D and the kitty cats will be done for the year, poor kittens.
Corbin will be missed but his contribution to the team this year would have been minor even assuming he didn't redshirt. He's really too small to play DB and so his value was an insurance policy for injury and for the running package he provided. Asiata is probably going to make that less important and Griff Robles is going to be a good replacement as third QB.
I'm a little worried. 10-19 for one and 11-21 for the other? That doesn't seem so great to me, especially if it is against the 2nd team as someone suggested. Plus 3 turnovers between them? I don't think you can blame me for being a little more cautious about my optimism, even though the coaches are raving about them. Those numbers aren't going to cut it.
two QB's really mean NOOOOOO QB. I bet Gary is licking his chops right now. Utah is a sinking ship and if Wynn were smart he would head to logan right now.
ha ha ha-
Sinking ship? The last game Utah played was the Sugar Bowl! The last game byu played was a Las Vegas Bowl loss! I would be much more concerned about your ridiculously depleted offensive line, and terribly slow defense. Utah will be just fine, as for byu if they have anyone healthy after Oklahoma destroyes them i will be shocked.
We should save these posts for next year when BYU is trying to fill Max Hall's shoes. Will it be Heaps or will he be on a mission? Will it be Riley? Will it be a JC transfer? The same arguments against Utah right now will be turned into some bizarre positive by the pathologically optimistic BYU crowd. Don't forget, BYU looked awful at the end of last year in losses to Utah and Arizona. What in the world has happened that would make the Kitty crowd optimistic about the coming season? Has the team been living right since then?
why dont you put your insecurity card back in your wallet and speak to the aggie fan that ripped your "sinking ship". Funny how insecure you ute fans are with BYU. Not everyone that thinks your team is going 7-5 is a BYU fan. . . knucklehead.
the best case scenario would have been to redshirt Wynn, and let Cain start. And pull Wynn's redshirt if Cain got injured and Louks couldn't perform.
Lets just say that Wynn is no heaps and leave it at that.
I too am nervous about our quarterback situation. Let's be honest - breaking in a new D1 quarterback is rarely smooth. I am confident, however, that both Cain and Wynn have the stuff to get the job done (I remember having similar hesitancies about BJ this time last year). I suspect Whitt will start Wynn on Sept. 3rd, but will rotate Terrance in to compare (though he has stated he doesn't like qb rotation).
I'm not too worried, as our ridiculously solid D-line, linebackers, and improving secondary will more than hold their own on the field, making up ground the offense may lose.
While we don't want to underestimate anyone, especially Gary Anderson, September 3rd will be a glorified scrimmage and will give our offense much needed game-time experience.
At this stage, Heaps is a kid who hasn't even played his senior year of high school and Wynn has shown that he's ready for high level college ball. I'd take Wynn any day of the week and twice on the Sabbath. Wait that's actually Saturday.
This is being made into a much bigger deal than it should be. Louks had a 2-year advantage, and couldn't beat out a true freshman and a JC transfer. It's quite obvious that he just isn't a QB. He had the least strides to make to claim the job, and could not do it.
I still think Cain will be the starter. He is a better mix of runner/passer and that seems to be the scheme Schrame wants to run. I think he felt his real competetion was Louks and he was playing it safe early. With Louks out he sounds a little looser.
As for the BYU comments....48-24. Until that changes, accept your place as the team behind Utah, and just ahead of Utah State.
