That's what he said.

Don't question the skill players

I'm hoping for good things for the offensive line. I wonder how all that cross training is going. There are really talented freshman like Terry Alleto, Houston Reynolds, Tui Crichton, Ryan Mulitalo, and Fono Vakalahi. Coach Weber might want those guys to show what they can do especially with the season opener looming on the horizon.

People forget if anything good happens to get done on the offense the credit is always the line's. We'll see what they can get done for the last few weeks of camp.

Offensive Line

Has to give the QB time to throw, Guess Pita will be wondering when he'll see the ball this year.

P.S. I'm no UTE!!!!

Eugene

Last year, the tide ends were huge in the first few games, but then Hall started keying only on Collie. Max needs to distribute the ball to a variety of receivers in order to stop the defense from keying on his top 1 or 2 choices.

I hope the Cougs employ a double tide end set often since Pitta and George are big targets with few defenses could cover both in a single play. Throw in McKay Jacobsen and defenses are going to have a tough time.

Of course, it all goes back to the O-line giving Hall the time to throw. Just like a few vicious hits taken last year, any backside pummeling of Hall by the Oklahoma defense will likely have Riley Nelson seeing early playing time! Go O!

Top in state

from ESPN...BYU has a national championship (sic), but lately Utah's two BCS bowl wins make it top dog in the state...

Thoughts?

Re: Top in state @ 6:47 a.m.

ESPN has an inexplicable hatred for BYU.

Thoughts

The Utes can go 13-0 and the Cougars can go 0-13 and BYU will always be the top dog in this state. It's just the way it is and I'm a U of U alum.

So many blessings.

"Tide Ends"?

To Eugene, "Tide Ends"? What are those?

To Top in state, Why did you put a (sic) next to national championship? That is like writing President Obama (sic) or University (sic) of Utah. Just because you don't like that something happened doesn't mean you get to put a (sic) next to it.

Besides, the mere fact that you are intruding shows you have an inferiority complex.

Re: Top in state

I think BYU has a fabulous group of tight ends this year. It is good to see that their young guy will also see some field time this year. 6'6" He looks like a bruiser.

Stay on topic.

Tight

And Jonny Harline is STILL open!!!

Re: Top

Unfortunately, I have to agree that the Cougs are playing a little catch-up to the Utes right now. We need to stop talking about going to the BCS and do it. That said, although going to a BcS bowl is the current barometer for success in oollege football, the ultimate goal is to win it all. Unless you are playing in the championship game the BcS is basically just a bunch of glorified exibition games that mean nothing and pale in comparison to winning the national championship. The Utes can have their Sugar and Fiesta Bowl trophies. I wouldn't trade the NC for any of it. In the long run nobody remembers (or cares really) who won those games. But a champion is always remembered. That's why we play the game. So in that respect Utah will always be playing catch-up to BYU.

Tidbits

from the New York Times:

BYU is one of only five teams to have had a player win the Heisman Trophy, the Doak Walker Award, the Outland Trophy and the Davey O’Brien Award.

from CBSSports.com Senior Writer Dennis Dodd:

The Oklahoma game happens to be the biggest for BYU since the 1990 Miami game in Provo. That day, Ty Detmer and crew defeated the Hurricanes 28-21. The possibilities are endless for the league [MWC] and its FLAGSHIP program. An upset victory would be one of the biggest in Cougars history, create a kickoff to a possible undefeated season and make BYU the No. 1 BCS buster. Even a close loss doesn't exactly ruin the Cougars' dreams.

Re:

I think it would be hard to find a better trio of tight ends in the country than our top 3 this year. Does anyone not agree? Pitta George and Brown are all big athletic guys and if you have a tight end that can block like Brown can from what I have seen so far BYU is going to have to use that triple threat alot this year to move the ball.

Aggie to top in State

Sorry, I don't follow Ute Football, but last night I did catch the re-run of the 2008 Ute - TCU game. I was very impressed with TCU's two missed field goals in the fourth quarter. Dominating victory, I didn't know the boys had it in them. Was that a home game? Have you run a classified ad for a new quarterback yet?

Feel free to open your mouth again in 2010.

re: Tidbits

Maybe someday our little brothers up on the hill will have a player good enough to win just one of those awards.

University???

TO "Tide Ends"?
Thats news! When was Deseret College granted university status? Wow. Good for them, huh? I wonder if they have a Bachelor of Spelling.

Re: Tight

And so are Paul Krueger, Sean Smith and Joe Dale. Get some perspective.

Zoobs. You've got some very good tight ends. Good luck in all your games except the one on November 28.

awesome

It is good to have so many weapons on offense! It is good to have tight ends that can actually block...no offense Harline. The O line is just going to have to step it up. Go big or go home, boys. Show us why BYU recruited you!

1984

So the two BCS wins are nothing compared to a mythical national championship 25 years ago that was achieved without a single quality win? BYU should be ashamed of this "distinction" rather than touting it as some great accomplishment. All their feat did was set the tide in motion for a system that would prevent teams from playing Bo Diddley schedules, going unbeaten, and then claiming a championship. This is why we have the BCS today. Thank you BYU.

What BYU aspires for today is a BCS bowl win. Utah has two. Get back to us when you have that and we'll talk as equals. Until then you have a 25 year old fluke that every sports fan in the country knows is a joke. What's sad is that BYU fans don't hear the laughter.
