Not a bad move

I'll have to admit, that Whittingham may have made a good move with putting Louks 3rd. He has 1 season left, which if he were the starting QB, would require another rebuilding year next year. If all the QBs are roughly equal, then why not pick a guy with 2 years remaining?

Louks also would be foolish to try to redshirt or move to another school.

I do feel bad for him, though.

IvanC

I've know Corbin, and he is a beast on the field. So wherever they put him he will do great things. I just hope that he sticks around with the U. But he will be ok on defense or offense. Your the Man Corbin. Hope to see you guys soon.

Another Eric Weddle

Louks is not a great passer - face it - but he is a great athelete. Redshirt a year learn to play safety and after two years Louks will have a chance to be in the NFL - another Eric Weddle. He can even play the Weddle position on offense. He's fast enough, big enough and smart enough to do a great job at safety. Trnsfer to a mickey mouse school (lower division or WAC etc) and maybe play QB for a year of so and then what. Stay at Utah work w/ great coaches and GROW.

Utah Mann

Louks could be the next Eric Weddle!!! He could redshirt this year to learn the DB techniques, come back next year play safety and also be used in the "Louks Package." Who could pass that up. I think at this point Louks would be crazy to transfer!! Louks, we love you, we want you to stay. You have the speed, the athleticism, and the drive to help this team out in any capacity. Look at KW track record of moving player to the D, he has sent at least 5 players to the NFL in the last 3 years!!!! That is just amazing!!!! Stay a Ute, move to the defensive side of the ball, maybee even return kicks, or punts (4.4 speed)?? You will make a difference on this team.

Corbin, U are the man!!!

Go UTES!!!!!!!!

Re:Not a bad move

Actually Corbin is a junior this year. With that being a fact, and doing the math in my head, that leaves TWO YEARS of eligibility. Corbin also has a redshirt year. Don't be suprised if he redshirts this year, and starts at FS next.

GO UTES

Correction: any capacity except QB.

Yes, Corbin Louks and Terrence Cain both have two years of eligibility remaining.

Sure, he's weighing his options, but I doubt there's somewhere he could transfer to that would appreciate his skills more and give him better opportunities than Utah could.

Stay!

Louks would be wise to stick around. He could transfer to some small school and play in front of 7,000 fans, or he could stick around and play at the U where he will play for a BCS caliber team. The next two seasons the Utes play at Notre Dame and at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. Those are opportunities that Louks won't get elsewhere.

He could see reps on Defense and in the Louks package on offense. He is a gifted player and I'd love to see him stay.

Louks' future

Either he stays with Utah as a safety, probably redshirting this year, or he transfers to Div II school, plays 2 years as starting QB. If he chooses the first option, he'll be coached by one of the best defensive coaching staffs and will get a shot at the NFL.
If he chooses the second option, his playing days are done and he'll have a degree from a smaller school and little else to dream about besides 'what could've been'.

In the system

I think everyone appreciates and likes Corbin. The best move for him and the team is going to defense. There are a lot of kids that would love to be in his shoes now. Your best chance to really make a difference for yourself and the team is to make the switch. Turn lemons into lemonaid. Go with your strengths, don't count out your experience at QB it will be a big factor with your success at D.

St. George Ute

Corbin...we hope you stay!!

NJ UTE

Utah does have a very recent history of converting a QB into a defensive player and then sending him off to the NFL after only playing two years at that position, can anyone say Paul Kruger? With the natural skills that Corbin has, this is very possible if he chooses to go that route. I hope he stays, but in the end he has to do what he thinks is best for him.

Flintrock

What is interesting in now that Louks is no longer a QB he will now be given a shot at safety. So that means a safety will lose his spot and be thrown off the train so that Louks can feel better about himself. What does he know about playing safety? Whether you play or not is a matter of luck, timing, or injuries.....or maybe because you aren't quite good enough. Politics has a role also. Coaches will promise you the world when they recruit you...but ultimately the 4 reasons mentioned above determine your destiny

Impressive...

I'm very impressed by Louks' attitude of immediately playing safety after such a hard let down the other day. I sure hope he stays in Red because I think he has a ton of talent to do well on defense.
Great example for kids. Thanks Louks.

Utah Man

Corbin Louks meet "Percy Harvin" Percy Harvin of Florida and now the NFL. Louks speed and athleticism along with his "offensive mind" would make him a fabulous defensive player. He is about the same size as Harvin, and he would end up being a monster to deal with for any offense. Let the whole QB thing go. You wouldn't have an NFL future, but at safety...the sky could be the limit! Go UTES!

Pleassssssseeeee

Now he is the anointed one at safety. Dreams, Dreams
and more blue sky bull. We have no clue he has any clue how to play safety. Percy Harvin Did you say Percy Harvin!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wake up your dream is over

Louks is a good athlete

But I wouldn't compare him to Percy Harvin! Come on Percy was a lightning bolt and Louks was decent but if he really had Percy Harvin's speed he would have been on the field 50% of the time for Utah and he would have been used in many capacities in the same way Eric Weddle was used.

agree

Louks should stay at Utah. Although he has every reason to be angry after playing back up QB and then getting the boot when two new players show up.

What?

Why is everyone saying Louks could only transfer to a D2 school? He could transfer D1, Does he not have a redshirt year he can use to sit out?

D1

Where can he go D1, play QB and play on into the NFL based on what we've seen already? Look how tough it has been for Brian Johnson. I think the Coaches have given him the opportunity of a lifetime. Take it!
