If the Jason Kreis era could be described in one word it would be "composure," or lack of it. RSL continues to do everything it can to hurt themselves. They simply don't play with any smarts at all.
With nearly an entire half to play a man up, what does RSL do, go out an get a red card. And it was absolutely deserved. Regardless, with 10-men to a side there we so few scoring opportunities by either team. Even the commentator made the comment how slow the game was being played.
Can we boo now? Game's over? Ok thanks:
BOOO!!!!
Terrible, lethargic effort by RSL. Yes, the officiating was horrendous, but that's no excuse.
You gotta win these games...
This was possibly the most disapointing result in this teams history.
Tonight showed us how bad Mathis really is!. First he missed a golden opportunity early, got a yellow card shortly after, and then could not control his emotions and got a stupid second yellow early in the second half. Only good news is he will now have to sit next week.
Tonight also showed us that this should be the time to fire Kries. Over and Over he has showed that he cannot react to game situations, When his team was up a man he should have pulled Mathis when he got his caution!! We all know that!! and Kries should too! Mathis is a fool and lets his emotions ruin his game. Next Kries made 3 more of his totally stupid subs. Bringing in Movsisian was correct but why for Espindola??? he was by far the most dangerous player on the pitch!!! Next, Wingert?? why??? This was a home match and we needed the 3 points!! Don't bring in another defender!! Finally Kries brings in a striker but way to late.
RSL fans deserve better than the constand disapointment of the Kries and Mathis show!!!
There was a soccer game tonight? And they played to a 0-0 draw? How utterly exciting.
Agree with Georg, substitutions were horrible, keeping Mathis in the game was suicidal. Espindola should play at center not in the wing, there are no plays planned in the corners, all are aerial balls and we have nobody who can head in the top of the defenders. Please Kreis, make plays with short corners, and Morales went back to his innocent trotting way too many lateral passes. Instead of importing players the MLS should bring referees and coaches. RSL, the available parking is precarious.
The game? What game? I hope this referee goes to continue his career in Italy, will not last very long! Like I said last year,Dave Checkets should go to the dressing room like the late Larry Miller used to do with his Jazz.
It's not all Mathis... Yes he made a mistake but open your eyes to the rest of the game. The ref was horrendous! The linesmen were both a joke. And the 4th ref gave 4 minutes when it should have been 5 or more. The finishing wasn't good. (3 posts I think).
Team was not lathargic (especially Clint). They dominated in all the stats but we need to finish. Even with if you are up a man you MUST finish.
Once again we have no playmaking and no finishing. It's time to start evaluating the talent. We can't keep expecting different results with the same people on the field. The defense is solid. We just can't score any goals. The defense has shut out the last two teams. A good indicator of offense is how well you score on the road. Let's see, how good are we on the road? Time to realize we need to go out and find someone who can score consistently (a 20 goal scorer). They are hard to find, but it is very clear that we don't have one.
This is the reason why soccer will never make it in the US and why it's THE most boring sport to watch
Where did you get your coaching experience. When you have only 3 subs why would you make a sub in the first half? Following that logic, you would have also taken Olave off.
Our defense didn't give up a single shot on goal. They've only given up one shot on goal in the last two games. I didn't think Olave deserved the yellow card for his challenge. He will be missed next week against New England. It will be interesting to see what lineup Kreis picks for next week. Will he stay with the 4-3-3 or switch to a 4-2-2 since Mathis will be suspended? As for the officiating, it was bad, but it didn't cost us the game. We normally finish strong in the final 15 minutes, but some strange substitutions and a Houston team who was content to escape with a draw combined to prevent any late match heroics. Does Kreis stay on to coach if we miss the playoffs? I guess only Checketts and Lagerway know the answer to that question. How about we go out and get a coach with some professional experience? Ellinger and Kreis both had no prior experience as a head coach at the professional level. We can still make the playoffs, but we have to get at least 1 or 2 results on the road.
I meant to say 4-4-2 in my earlier comment. I hope we don't go in to our next game down two men...Also, don't feed the trolls!
Fedor always try stay positive, the negative is good for the nobody. But it hard to understand why RSL misfortune bring out the worst in people. There were not this many comment for last two game....RSL has tie (against best team in league) and all football hater want to pile on. All Kreis hater want to pile on. Anyone at the beautiful Rio Tinto saw a match where refs swallow the whistle in box. Mathis lose his cool, that not good. It just not our night. But there is positive. Not a loss. We hold our own against best team. Maybe next week we find some answers with subs for suspended players. Do not jump off wagon my fellow RSL fanatics. Only our hope and passion, support for team will get us to playoffs. Let's come together and make last 1/2 of season something to remember forever. See you at Fenway next weekend for sox and yanks....then see you at game against Revolution. We can pull this one out. Bring your heart and love for mighty RSL and we'll get there together!!! GOOOOOOOO RSL, GOOOOOO GOOOOOOO ALL THE WAY!!!!! It's our year!!!
Guys I am known to be a Galaxy fan, but Real my 2nd favorite in the MSL. I am as disappointed as all of you are. This 2009 season will be known as lost opportunities and blown points due to inefficient finishing, playmaking and stupid cards. I have seen Mathis act for years. He and Kreis are similar personalities. Jason and him likely friends and personally I do not think attempts to control Chris. What Mathis did was childish of a 34 year player.
This team has good talent. Findlay looked good early, the team attacked well. Morales and others, Findlay included unable to finish and waste few chances there were. 3 posts a season story.
Losing the extra player was fatal. Real would have scored with 45 minutes even as organized and Boring as Houston often is.
Now 3 points out of playoffs and yet another lost chance.
I am known to be critical of coaches. Kreis did well last year. I would give him one more year if no playoffs. He has tried to make adjustments, brought in players, losing Beckerman gold cup etc..
Consistent now goalkeeping and defensively, this team just needs a consistent finisher...or two.
Mathis doesn't know how to keep his big mouth shut and game after game he's in the Ref's face. Kreis doesn't know how to coach his friend or is unwilling to do what has to be done for the sake of the team. Either way one or both of them have to go. AND GO NOW.
It's wrong to hate Mathis for just one mistake when there are so many other reasons to hate him. He has two goals in his entire time with RSL, playing up front most of that time. His six assists -- like the entire statistical category in MLS -- is skewed because most of those came when he was taking the majority of our corners early in the season. He disappears for long stretches in games. He doesn't close down defensively or run for his teammates off the ball. And his main preoccupation during many matches seems to be the officials. Most people who have watched Mathis's entire career will tell you he's been the same with RSL as he has with the other half dozen teams he's played for.
Soccer the most boring to Watch? You just don't understand the game. If and when football makes it big in the States I hope you never start to watch or care. It people like you that will always try to kill its chances.
Real is killing me. We have been doing the same stupid things and playing the same stupid way for far too long. Bad subs and bad game plan equal draw or loss. Im not sure what direction to take because there are not a lot of coaches equal to or better then Kries available, but i do believe that we will start getting better talent as the years go on. If this whole Van Nistelroy thing is true and he comes, he will be a goal scoring machine in the MLS.
Anyway, lets support the team and hope they can get on track and make the playoffs.
It was very difficult to watch and it was definitely a tie which felt like a loss, but there is still time to sneak in the playoffs and my hope is still alive.
How many saves did Real's goalie have in the game?
mathis is freaking stupid. i wish they would stop playing him already. he's old and slow and is always arguing with the refs in every single game. i hate him so bad. we'd do alot better if he wasn't playingl
Summary of last night. RSL no more excuses! It may have been a tie but we needed a win so it was a loss. Mathis needs to be benched, Kreis, no more loyalty to your best friend. Be a man and do what a coach should do, COACH! Mathis is a great guy but he need to focus on the game as much as he yells at the refs. Our mid field is not getting the offensive job done. Will runs around with the ball and then passes it to the other team. Great effort but leads to nothing. All of our mids are playing to much defense. We need wins, it is almost to late. Play a 3-4-3 next week, win or go home! yura, esp and robbie up front, bring Williams on as a 4th attaching mid to bring creativity. No one sees the field better than Williams. START WILLIAMS!!!!
