"The American people are not stupid, which is something that seems to surprise the Democrats, Obama and much of the media."
Anthony, you're truly showing a double standard here. As if, Republicans and their media doesn't treat the American people as stupid. Come on. POLITICIANS, Demos and Repubs alike, don't respect the American people.
So just stop.
People's opinions are being effected by all the JUNK IN, JUNK OUT problem. A ton of honesty these days would sure help. The hope for genuine honesty from all sides is a hope in vain.
the bill. I'm ok with it.
UCLA estimates that at least one million Californians head for Mexico each year for health care. As you point out these people probably aren't stupid. So, Mr. Jackson, if the current health care system is so great, what's with all of these people heading for Mexico?
I beg to differ. MANY Americans are stupid! Don't believe me? Just watch the news.
In case you haven't been listening the President, our wonderful, deserving President, has been on the stump trying to quell the paranoia and ANSWER QUESTIONS, but some people just refuse to listen.
In your next letter you might want to include some specifics....and some facts....to go along with the red faced ranting!
In the coming weeks, the cynics and the naysayers will continue to exploit fear and concerns for political gain. But for all the scare tactics out there, what’s truly scary – truly risky – is the prospect of doing nothing. If we maintain the status quo, we will continue to see 14,000 Americans lose their health insurance every day. Premiums will continue to skyrocket. Our deficit will continue to grow. And insurance companies will continue to profit by discriminating against sick people.
That is not a future I want for my children, or for yours. And that is not a future I want for the United States of America.
In the end, this isn’t about politics. This is about people’s lives and livelihoods. This is about people’s businesses. This is about America’s future, and whether we will be able to look back years from now and say that this was the moment when we made the changes we needed, and gave our children a better life. I believe we can, and I believe we will.
Who's "we"? I'm one of the people, and I'm on board with Obama. It's time to show the health care "insurance" industry that holds us all hostage that "we" have wised up and are not going to pay premiums forever only to have our claims denied. Health insurance is just a protection racket.
To "Hypocrisy | 12:18 a.m." there isn't a double standard because it is Obama and the Democrats that are shoving the health plan, and are not being honest.
Granted, there are few politicians that are trustworthy.
I used to get my check ups and dental work in Tijuana all the time after I was laid off and lost my insurance. The care was as good there as it was in the U.S. I simply could not afford even basic care in the U.S. The cost to do the same thing here was many times greater.
"The American people are not stupid..."
No, Anthony, just some of us...
With all of the debate going on right now, I'd hardly say that anything is being "shoved", but you've never let the truth get in the way of a good argument, have you?
Obama bad, Obama bad, OBAMA BAD!!!! Feel better now?
There are alot of Americans who are just stupidly gulliable. They do not research facts on their own and rely on sound bites from the entertainers on Am radio and news TV. The Republican Party have some members who rely on fear/twisted truths/lies/intimidation shouts to try and maintain/regain their points of view. Some members of the Democratic Party have done this too. Too bad we cannot find representatives who truly work for what is best for the American people-common ground.
Public figures who use the above methods should be scorned from elected office(or never be put in office). People should really look deep into the viewpoints of our media, look at the character of these people, look and see how they treat others with opposing views and realize is this the Republic our Founding Fathers want? A nation that is lockstep in its opinions or one that through the spirit of unity/comprimise whose goal is to better ourselves.
Are you OK with the government having direct access to your bank account? (Read page 59 of the bill) Everyone should read the bill and decide for themselves.
Think they don't already? Just try not paying the ex-wife...
Yeah, the population is smart all right. Of course, they did elect George W. Bush. Twice.
This guy would have fought Medicaire, Social Security, the trip to the moon and a whole host of things that led to positive change and progress. Afraid of changing the status quo? As a businessman facing 30% annual increases in health insurance costs, causing me to cut benefits and consider dropping it, I'll take the President's plan. I have a heart.
I'll fight the President's plan. I have a brain.
And I am a business owner who provides health insurance to my employees. I've never seen more than a 15% increase in a year. Don't know where you are getting your 30% number. You may need to look at a new plan (something you WON'T be able to do under the Obama plan longterm since there will only be one plan - his!)
"Status quo biased"
