Somebody needs to say it. If times are that tough, get rid of the pets and take responsibility for taking care of your children!
Having a pet helps children's development, teaches them (somewhat) how to care for another living creature. It also helps with children's self-esteem and morale during hard times.
How about you buck up and donate a $10 bag of dog food. Animals are an important part of people's lives, they are good for everyone's wellbeing. They teach children compassion and responsibility, they have proven to be an excellend stress reducer and the a huge mood booster, especially in the elderly. Why give up the pet when they have a loving home and their owners just need a little help?
To Well: Pets are NOT expendable items, like an item you buy at Walmart, then decide you don't want and take it back. Pets are God's creatures and once you take on that responsibility one should do all in their power to live up to it. You sound very callous and cold. Grow a heart. Pets are beloved members of the family and people with hearts don't feel the way you do. Shame on you.
To Well, Pet are important. They are part of the family and deserve the love and care they give unconditionally. People don't love unconditionally. Thats why children benefit from being brought up in home with pets.
We keep dog food as part of our food storage. Our dog is an important member of our family and we want to be able to take good care of her even during hard times.
Not everyone has children, a pet may be all a person has and is their family, who they love. Pets are not disposable trash!
If you can't afford a home, and you can't afford food, affording a pet is not an option.
Lose the pet.
People have no food...donate to that. People are sick...donate to that.
Pets are a choice. Food and shelter and living are not choices. Lose the pet.
Using that logic, children are a choice too. So, when times are tough lose the kids? Real smart guy. Way to teach people to be selfish and when times are tough think of yourself and forget about the rest.
Besides, look at the bigger picture. It costs the community more money to support an animal in a shelter than it does to collect donated food and leave them at home.
AND I am pretty sure anyone who is willing to donate to this cause also would and does donate food and $ to people too.
Stop breeding them and then you wont have to feed them. Feed the homeless humans!!!!!! Get over it folks, Pets are not humans. They are only pets, and they are nice to have when you can afford to feed them. OTHERWISE STOP BREEDING THEM JUST SO THEY CAN BE PUT TO SLEEP. Shame on you heartless humans!
What a cute picture.
