Thank goodness, I never felt that I had to be like this 50's article. That is one of the many things I love about this church. Men and women treat each other like equals. Well, at least in my world. Each helps the other. However, there still are some cultures where the woman is treated as if she is only there to make the man's life easier. That's too bad because I believe that it is harder to stay at home and tend to the children than it is to go to work. However, all worker's days are not the same. Conversely, the number of children, the children's situations, the health of the mother, and the family income make a difference in the life of the woman. When my husband is gone on a long trip, I do work to fix up the house and look nice for when he comes home. Well, at least I try to. I'm glad he is understanding.

What to do when daddy comes home: fetch me my dinner and get the kids out of the living room. That is all I ask.

When I come home, all I want is for my family to clap their hands and shout for joy and climb upon my knee. Put their arms around my neck, hug me tight, pat my cheek and give me a great big kiss.

Seriously, you don't need to have everything perfect, but the first words out of your mouth should never, ever, be a complaint. "Honey, I'm so glad you're home. I could really use your help..." is a million times better than, "Your children stuck M&Ms in the dog's ears again." (Really? We've got M&Ms?)

Husbands owe their wives the same. "Honey, it's so good to be home!" Is better than "My boss is such an idiot." or "What's burning?"

Take 10 minutes to be happy to be in each other's company after a long day. The M&Ms can wait.
