mr. curtis, you lost me with all the "layers" and apartheid and parody and satire psychobabble. what are you talking about? i have lived in j-burg and i do not see the connection you are making with the filmmaker and his need to shoot in the region nor do i accept his take that this project couldn't have been repro'd anywhere else. this film could have just easily been shot in the us plains states, the argentine silver plateau or any french hamlet. perhaps because the dir. didn't want to leave his comfort zone he made this quasi-plausible stretch to sound interesting or complex to his friends in the media. which you are now perpetuating. some crush you have on this.
