Hey, Reality,...shut up and let's look for the good. Not everybody is perfect as you obviously think you are/were! I'd like to buy you for what you're worth and sell you for what you think you're worth. I make a bundle of dough!

Wow... | 4:58 p.m. Aug. 13, 2009
...reality and 4A player, who took away your birthdays? I'm not sure what either of you are talking about. All I got from this was that they think they might be better than a typical first year school because they got some quality transfers. I don't see anything about them predicting they'll take state or even make the playoffs. A year ago, people in the community wondered if we'd even have a senior on the team, so the potential of the actual team is a step up from what expectations were. 4A player, are you saying someone is running his mouth in the real world or are you getting bent out of shape becxause they say in this article that they might not be that bad?

Good luck Stallions! Wishing you the best of luck this football season.

stallions.... 1-8 this year
RE: Prediction | 9:52 a.m. Aug. 14, 2009
That's generous!
choices | 11:13 a.m. Aug. 14, 2009
the kids who opted to transfer to the new school should not be villainized. Nor should the new coaching staff. The decision was not easy I'm sure. But you know what you're getting at either of the other two schools. A declining program in G-ville over the past 4 years, and the same staff at Tooele that was clearly devided and unimpressive last year. Maybe a cover 4 base D isn't the brightest idea. You get killed in the flats.
FOR SURE | 12:43 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
Tooele 10-0
Choices | 2:28 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
Stansbury's little league 4-4 won't do the trick either. Of all the transfers from tooele maybe one would have started on this years team. Good luck with that.
observer  | 3:38 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
Lets see the rundown on the Tooele staff. A Head Coach who has coached in two state championship games, among many, many other accomplishments in his career. An assistant that has been with him through all of it, who just happened to play pro ball. Two assistants that have been on staff's that have won titles. One assistant that has been not on one championship staff but two. Two coaches that have won state titles as players, one of those two just happened to be a D1 starter at the UoU. And don't forget the two that have won state basketball titles and has produced state champion wrestlers. I would say they have it covered as a staff. They know what it takes to win. I think people will see a great big difference in Tooele Football this year.
Tooele County rage lives on | 3:49 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
In the 9-1/2 years I lived there, the Tooele community could NEVER accept Stansbury, and initially Grantsville didn't want them either. It has shown in MANY, MANY ways over the years, and the rage that has developed between these 3 communities is ridiculous at BEST! Tooele has had nothing to be proud of since Anderson left, Grantsville is a has-been since Hamilton's departure, and Stansbury has yet to prove itself (but no one there is talking smack).

I hope these 3 communities can find a way to get along and quit this little sister bickering with one another. My advice--GET OVER IT so you can focus on what is most important; a QUALITY EDUCATION, building a united community, and supporting our youth with a positive environment and wholesome activities.

Good luck to the Stallions--who have waited for at LEAST 12 years for this to transpire--and have financially supported the schools in Tooele and Grantsville long enough! It's your turn to shine!! You don't have to have a winning record to be a winner--just show some class and look to improve every week. In time winning records will just happen!
To observer... | 3:55 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
I hope you're right, but unfortunately it's NOT the staff that gets the chance to go out onto the field and block, run, pass or tackle..., it's the players. And, unless the parents of Tooele (who traditionally have gotten in the way of their son's successes by meddling in the afairs of the coaching staff) decide to stand back and let the coaches do their job, I don't see anything changing this year, or for many to come. Good luck Buffs, you have a great staff, but you need to get a backbone and tell your parents to "Baaaaccccckkk Offffff!"
Re: To Observer | 4:20 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
Just ask stansbury's coaching staff, they said they will not lose a game because of coaching, that was quoted directly out of the local paper. And the stansbury players have been as guilty as any in causing the tension in the valley, they have been running their mouths for months now.
Re re to observer | 4:51 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
So in other words. He'll take no blame for there 1 and 10 season. Because they "will not be out coached"
Stansbury | 7:03 p.m. Aug. 14, 2009
Stansbury is all talk! I hear they are going to win region and maybe state this year in all sports (baseball, basketball, football, and soccer) The parents know. They are going to have professional athletes left and right
Clint Miller | 1:09 a.m. Aug. 15, 2009
Stansbury is the Talk. The Coach Christiansen is a stud and so is the staff under him. They(the coaches)will have the troops ready for war every friday night. I don't blame any kid from Tooele to transfer to Stansbury. The coach at Stansbury don't play Favorite's. Kids get a honest fair shake. My Brother has learned more in 1 summer than 3 years at Tooele. The Stallions have Enjoyed the camps and the practices to. I coached alot of the current kids at Tooele High and I enjoy all of them. So no more talking trash and let the season speak for its self and the game Oct. 22nd at Tooele. For all bragging rights.
real life | 8:40 a.m. Aug. 15, 2009

Stansbury vs. Provo Week Two | 6:14 p.m. Aug. 15, 2009
should interesting as Christiansen resigned at Provo two years ago and sat out a year coaching to land back in his old stomping grounds. Christiansen did a solid job at Provo with two winning seasons in his four years including a 9-3 mark in 2006 and a quarterfinal appearance in the play-offs. The Bulldogs also played Timpview pretty tough in two of four years. However, his last year things fell off the wagon, the players didn't respond, there seemed to be divisions in the coaching staff and the 63-0 blowout loss to rival Timpview seemed to deflate Christiansen.

Provo's new coach has tried in some sense to be the anti-Christiansen (a kinder, gentler coach of sorts) in an effort to get more boys out for Provo's program. It worked with the numbers but on the field in wins not much to show for it yet.

I'm sure Coach Christiansen wants to show well against Provo to show his detractors there he had the right stuff and that the Provo players were just soft. For Provo, it wants to show that going with Coach Saia Pope was the proper move.
Bulldog | 4:29 p.m. Aug. 16, 2009
Going with Saia Pope WAS the right move
the truth | 2:47 p.m. Aug. 17, 2009
to all you tooele high fans out there, why are you running your mouths??? your football and basketball programs have been terrible the past couple of years, you guys can't even compete in 4-A! (besides your softball team) so who are you to say anything to anyone? face it stansbury took your last decent atheletes and you guys are going to be worse than before
jackson | 3:00 p.m. Aug. 17, 2009
yeah keep running your mouth tooele! nothing new, just the same people, talking the same trash, with the same 2-8 season nothing will be new this year with you guys
re: the truth | 3:17 p.m. Aug. 17, 2009
you know what's nice, it gets to be settled on the field.

To "to observer" | 4:09 p.m. Aug. 18, 2009
Wow, did you hit at least one thing directly on the head. The parents are so caught up in meddling that it's a wonder anything good happens. I've never seen in all my life the level of "Daddy" and "Mommy" ball that occurs in Tooele County. There have been some good results of travel teams, but not nearly equal to the level of time and money spent on them and that's a direct result of players playing because of who their parents are on the bench and not how they actually play. Want to make sure your daughter gets to play second base? Volunteer to be an unpaid freshman coach. How long can they let that happen? I heard one travel team coach say that since the coach was putting in so much time and effort that the coach's kid would play wherever she wanted to play. I watched another coach bat his kids 1st and 3rd all season this summer despite their having among the worst batting averages on the team. How does someone rationalize that? Not keeping a scorebook for part of the games helps because then there's no evidence.
whose talking | 9:59 a.m. Aug. 19, 2009
About who is talking trash, stansbury people have always thought they are better than anyone else. they live in there so called high priced houses that are no better than mine but they paid twice the money for on there 1/4 or less acre of misquito infested swamp land. you do have good football coaches but still have players from all over the county including disgruntled tooele people and grantsville people. so see you on the field.
H2 | 11:08 a.m. Aug. 19, 2009
Have any of you noticed that this preview, has more comments than any other team preview. And for the most part they are all negative. Maybe that has something to say about your community, maybe if parents and fans would just let your athletes play, maybe just maybe all of your teams would have a little more success. O and let your coaches coach if you know so much then you go do it! I don’t know your situation as I am not from there but I bet with a community like this you probably go through a lot of coaches.
proud stallion | 2:42 p.m. Aug. 20, 2009
yeah we see you on the field! and we're going to crush you, and add on too your long list of problems! your nothing and always have been, and i'm glad i'm finally out of there. Tooele is nothing but drama, problems, and pollitics with sports and thats why they always lose
get it straight | 4:52 p.m. Aug. 20, 2009
Hey "real life," we are 4A. We're in your region. If you don't know that, I have to question what you do know and wonder about your motiviation for trashing on Stansbury.
Ettel #24 | 12:36 p.m. Aug. 23, 2009
As a Stansbury Stallion football player myself id like to say that all of my coachs are amazing at what they do and we as a team respect them more then they'll ever know. Yea, Coach Christiansen is confident, BUT he has the right to be. The Team that we have is also amazing. Ive never been anywhere near a team with so much heart and dedication. Finally the kids of Stansbury , Grantsville, and Tooele are part of something bigger then themselves. We went out friday and showed everyone we arent just a new school. Every friday we will be on the field and we will fight for 48 minutes. I thank my coachs already for the disipline they have showed us boys. we are the stallions! 1-0
re: ettel | 2:09 p.m. Aug. 23, 2009
you've never played football till stansbury. you've never played a real team!.. just wait
Principal Topham | 3:40 p.m. Sept. 5, 2009
Great Job Stansbury against Ogden. Hopefully principal Topham will see the light and the error in his judgment of selecting these "coaches". Let's get some new coaches lined up for next season that don't play favorites and that will teach the boys how to win. The quotes these coaches make in the papers are embarrassing to our community. "If we lose it wont be because of the coaches." - Coach Clint. Doesn't get much better than that. He already has his own kid slotted as QB and MLB over much better players. Favoritism at its greatest.

Wow and you all thought that tooele and grantsville had politics
Re: Ettel #24  | 12:00 p.m. Sept. 8, 2009
Yeah you guys have really proved you are an amazing team by this whole preseason. Great win against maple mountain though....
re; Ettel | 1:04 p.m. Sept. 9, 2009
do any of you have something to say now?
ROD BURNER | 1:13 p.m. Sept. 9, 2009
i give nothing but praise to the coaches and administrators of stansbury high school. as to the comment about the ogden game i really don't know what game you watched but the score did not relevate the game that these kids played and that the coaches directed. mistakes happen in all sports it just a fact. recovering from the mistakes is the key. these things will come in due time but don't sell these coaches and players short. they have come along way in a short time and will soon be a force to be reconned with. as for the comment about coach christiansons' son i personally haven't seen any favoritism by any of the coaches. coach christianson's son plays on the freshman team not varsity. in fact he isn't even on the varsity roster and is playing as a junior in the ute football league. they the coaches are doing what needs to be done to field the best team possible each week. they teach these young men the game of football and the skills they need to play the game effectively. my hat is off to the coaching staff. GREAT JOB!!!!
Marnae Marshall | 2:06 p.m. Sept. 9, 2009
Wow for all of those that are so quick to make negative comments why dont you have the guts to put your name with your comment? BTW the last time that I checked Clints' boy does not play JV or Varsity. Yes I do know who Clints' boy is and yes I do know that he plays in the UTE Conference league. Also, region games start this Friday for those that want the coaches fired maybe you should see how the season goes first.

To the Stansbury Coaches you have done a great job with the team and have come along ways. To the team Great Job Boys keep your heads up and dont listen to those that do not know how to speak good of others. Mistakes do happen so, watch the films that they shown you and learn from the mistakes and move forward.

Anonymous | 9:55 p.m. Sept. 9, 2009
I'm so glad you finally have your own school!
Millard | 5:56 a.m. Sept. 10, 2009
The majority of those posting the negative comments must be from Grantsville High. Maybe they are a little upset about getting the snot kicked out of them by wimpy 2A Millard. Makes them feel better that Stansbury lost to Provo and Ogden (both 4A with winning records against 4A teams). Everyone knows that there are hard feeling between Tooele, Grantsville, and Stansbury. It would probably be best to keep our thoughts to ourselves (myself included), even though it feels good to rip on each other. It isn't worth it.
Gville Pride | 7:48 a.m. Sept. 11, 2009
Apparently I can't type lol I ment to say we are not bad mouthing them!
re: millard | 2:24 p.m. Sept. 11, 2009
Grantsville and Millard are close in enrollment there buddy.. Stansbury has 1700 kids. You should be playing provo and ogden. Whether you win or lose. Grantsville doesn't care. We love our small school now! Not to mention the fact that half of your team live in Grantsville or Tooele so when you don't win. Remember, they're not stansbury boys, who ya gonna blame then?
football fan | 11:31 a.m. Sept. 14, 2009
The Stansbury Stallions have been blown out in all of thier games except the one against the sophomores of Maple Hills. So my queston is if the coaches will never be out coached and saying because you are new school and sayng you are not expected to win would be an excuse why are you losing. I will tell you why because you are a new school and have to go through your growing pains like everone else and the head coach while he may be okay is not the best coach in the state or even in the county. So get over yourselves and just coach.
Real Football Fan | 8:04 a.m. Sept. 15, 2009
Stansbury may have been blown out on the score board, but not statistically. Ogden averages over 450 total yards per game. Against Stansbury they had 211. Entering the 4th quarter East had 89 yards rushing, and 47 yards passing. Provo’s head coach said “Stansbury is a much better team then they had prepared for”, “Coach Clint has done a great job”. Stansbury had his team up against the ropes and if not for a late turn over, who knows how the game would have ended. Ogden’s head coach said “Stansbury surprises us; they came out and punched us right in the mouth”. I support Coach Clint, just because Stansbury is a new school he will not use it as an excuse to loose. Great job! Keep telling the team that they can and will win, and that you won’t make excuses. The team is a missed tackle, a dropped pass, a missed block, & players not hitting the right hole from being 4-0. The wins will come!!! Coach Clint does a great job! he and his staff are awesome coaches. But don’t take my word for it; ask the kids who play for them
Anonymous | 10:49 p.m. Sept. 21, 2009
it doesn't matter how many rushing yards east had up until the 4th quarter! you have to play all 4 quarters.
