We are one of the gillions of BYU sweethearts who chose Bullock and Losee for their wedding rings. We have been married nearly 40 years and now another important piece of our fairytale romance moves on. Thanks Brother and Sister Losee for the good memories of that special time in our lives and for being there for us. May God Bless you both and be the wind beneath your wings.

Decades of overcharging students coming to an end.

@Anonymous......If you are going to accuse The Losee family of overcharging, why don't you have the integrity of posting a name? Jewelry has always carried a 500% mark-up. At least in their stores, when you bought a diamond, you got a diamond. Show some class and keep your comments to yourself next time.

UNLV, why the bullying? I am not Anonymous @ 7:29 am but you yourself admitted that jewlery carries a very high markup. So what was incorrect in what Anonymous said? There's a reason why Mrs. Losee was able to afford all of those jewels that the article mentions her wearing -- the couple made LOTS of money.

I do think it is repugnant for jewelry stores (not just the one that is the subject of this article) to persuade young couples that don't know any better that a SIGNIFICANT amount of their future earnings (or of their parents' retirement nestegg)should be spend on rings that have relatively little intrinsic value.

My husband and I also chose Bullock and Losee when we got engaged. They were reasonably priced and we chose a beautiful set of rings for our wedding. We have been married for almost 20 years now. Thank you Brother and Sister Losee for your integrity and honesty. My husband and I wish you both the best in your retirement.

@Zadruga Guy: So based on your opinion, the Losee family should not make a profit on their business? Where do you work? Owners of McDonalds make half a million a year. Are they overcharging for their bad food? On top of that, Provo is the cheapest town in the United States. I doubt that the Losee family could overcharge in that town. You are just bitter that you don't own your own business.

I personally worked for Losee Jeweler's for nearly 7 years. I was always impressed with the high class and the character of the Losee's themselves. They always conducted their business in an honest way. I have great memories of the way they treated me and many other people. Though some may be some dispute the amount of money profited or percentage of markup on items carried in that store, I know that the Losee's strove for honesty, dignity and quality in what they provided. They sold a great product at a fair price. Though they did make a decent living, rest assured, the Losee's would give anything to any one that was in need. They are some of the most generous people I have ever met. And, what a lovingly, devoted couple at that.

Although I have since moved away, I will treasure my days spent at Losee Jeweler's helping couples, friends and families with the happy occasions in their lives. You can't put a price tag on that.

I am sad to see this store close, but I am thrilled to see the Losee's moving on with their "Golden" years.

Dick and JoAnn were wonderful to me when I worked for them in 1968. I will never forget walking in to the store that summer and asking Dick for a job. He required no resumes and hired me on the spot! Working there taught me a great deal. They always treated employees with respect and trust.

Florence Bullock, JoAnn's mother, also worked in the store when I was there. She was truly an icon. No one could sell like she could because of her exquisite taste which showed even in the way she dressed and kept herself. People loved her ideas.

We kept the store spotless. Everything shined with no fingerprints anywhere. I know that the Losees were successful because they knew what people wanted and everyone walked out feeling like they had been treated like royalty. I married Larry after he checked me out in their beautiful store or I would have stayed and worked longer.

Thank you Losees, I never tire of telling people that I once was "chosen" to work in the classiest place in Provo. Best wishes on your retirement.

I think it is unfortunate when people place zingers out in public in an anonomous way. Bottom line is I expect the buisiness I deal with to make a profit. I want them to be around to continue the buisiness relationship. The amont of that profit is determined by the customer. We (the customer) reward the buisiness that treat us well and fairly. Just the fact that Losees is closing of their own accord and not due to the economic downturn speaks volumes about the respect and standing of this buisiness in the community. By the way the value of rings is measured in the value of the material from which they are made and the quality of the workmanship. Blaming a jewelry store for the poor choice of a couple really is not a valid aurgument. Truley, do you expect salespeople to know the economic standing of everyone they sell to? Come on!
