Thanks I am sending this to my sons...................
And what about the major problem of even using cell phones while driving? Texting is bad but so is using the phone and that is more serious a problem than texting. Texting and driving only guarantees and accident, but putting all your attention on a phone call is more widespread and dangerous. And what phone call is worth dieing over or killing others for your irresponsible acts?
Vehicle manufacturers should be forced to install cell phone jammers in all vehicles that have the engine running. And also force the retrofit of older vehicles. Just as we don't want drunk drivers, we don't want drivers willing to kill their road mates over a phone call.
Studies have demonstrated that using a cellphone impairs driving as much as a blood alcohol content over the legal limit. And texting impairs many times more. My heart goes out to these bereaved families, and to the young man who has to live with what he's done. I recommend that all young (and not so young) people view the Welsh government public service video showing what can happen when you text and drive. I'm sure you can find it on YouTube. It's horrific and will haunt your dreams, but text-related accidents like it depicts are no fiction. Just ask Reggie Shaw.
